Today is the 4th Anniversary of the 1st Instagram

instagram.com/p/C

On July 16, 2010, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom took a picture of a golden retriever at a Baja, CA taco stand, with a guest appearance by his girlfriend's foot. This was the very first "Instagram" ever taken. Today, Instagram users have shared over 20,000,000,000 photos to date and each day, 60,000,000 more are added.

Our first "real" Instagram (we're @Engadget on there, by the way) took place last October when we kicked off Engadget + gdgt Live in Boston: instagram.com/p/fSvedZGdWi/ -- which was actually a video!

What was your very first Instagram? Tell us about it and share the link in the discussion below.

Mine was posted posted on October 10th, 2010 and I apparently had no idea how to use it. I tested it out by posting a crappy photo on an Apple Magic Mouse:

According this this, I was user 2547:

That's kind of surprising, considering that it launched in July and I didn't post my first photo until October! They had some slow growth initially.

By the way, for you advanced folks (like Dave), you can load an Instagram on your browser (ideally Chrome), right-click on the picture and choose "Inspect Element," then you should right away see a complicated URL that you should be able to copy and paste in the comments below. But, only if you want to.

You don't even need to get all that crazy! There's a neat service called Iconosquare (formerly Statigram -- can give you all sorts of data and analytics about your IG account). Just go to your photos, find your first photo, copy the image URL and post it right here.

Which is what I just did, phew. But, some people enjoy code, so whatever floats everyone's boat.

It looks like I have close to 1,000 pictures on my Instagram channel (@johncolucci) and going back in time is a bit tricky, if not for the Iconosquare app. This graphic shows my first Instagram which if I recall correctly, took place at San Francisco's House of Air dodgeball venue near the Presidio for a work outing.
