Tech-themed vacations for gadget lovers?
Earlier this week one of our superusers, Travis "TgD" Dilts (who you should totally follow, as he is awesome) mentioned he was going to be in San Francisco on business, and he asked what he should check out while he was there: http://www.engadget.com/discuss/making-the-most-of-a-business-trip-to-san-francisco-1ruw/
Suspecting that Travis was you know, probably interested in tech since he's on this site, I suggested the Musée... Read more →

My early DOS gaming memories
Recently, I was browsing some random Abandonware websites (dedicated to those old computer games that are mostly long forgotten) and it ended up turning into a crazy stroll down memory lane. As a child, I spent countless hours in front of dimly lit CRTs playing all sorts of games. These represent some of my earliest memories of gaming. It's crazy!
That mainly has to do with the fact that growing up, I never had any of the early gaming consoles (Atari, Nintendo, etc), but thanks to my dad being a... Read more →

Operation Finish all the Games, June 2014
The point of this project was to try and reduce my games backlog, which goes back at least 10 years for some games. Unfortunately, new games continue to come out, and plenty of retailers (Steam, GOG.com, Humble Bundle) keep having great sales that I can't ignore, making my task almost Sisyphean. But I'm not giving up just yet, not after I've come so far!
As always, the basic rules of this quest:
  1. Finish or beat one game a month....

Grand Theft Auto: Madrid - A live action recreation of the GTA V trailer

The folks at Zapruder Pictures have created a live action, scene for scene recreation of the GTA V trailer (which takes place in Los Angeles). This is actually really awesome! And I love seeing stuff like this.

Check it out below!

The Steam sale is on! What bargains have you added to your pile of shame?
Steam's summer sale started this past Thursday and lasts until June 30, meaning that many computer gamers have now (virtually) emptied their wallets to take advantage of discounts on games ranging as high as 90% off their regular price.
And people are pretty much losing their minds.

Which XBOX One controller should I buy for PC?
Hi, I'm a PC gamer but I do play a lot of games with controllers, like FIFA or anything that doesn't really require me to point a gun. Up until now I had an xbox 360 wired controller, which was awesome because it worked with any game and was great controller overall (except for the crappy D-pad). It was literally plug and play. Now the LB timely broke, so I'd like to buy an xbox one controller. The thing is that I couldn't find any wired controllers, which is not terribly bad, but really... Read more →

Is it fun to watch gaming livestreams?
Livestreaming gameplay has blown up big in the past few years, to the point where both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have it baked it into the consoles themselves, with the PS4 making it as easy as pressing a button on the Dualshock 4 and you just have to tell the Xbox to broadcast. But not the Wii U -- and when asked about that at E3 by the folks at Polygon, Reggie Fils-Aime said,
"We don't... Read more →

I want to play PilotWings 64 while I commute!
I used to really enjoy playing Nintendo’s PilotWings 64, back in the day!   Flying the Rocket Belt around, exploring and looking for those gold stars.   Shooting Mario out of the cannon, and making the face on the mountain change into Wario!   Cool stuff!   I wish it were available for me to play now, on my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone, running Android 4.3.   I tried playing it using an emulator, but the gameplay was awful!   The sound was horrible, all scratchy and stuttery.   The... Do I have an unhealthy fear of in-app purchases?
I think it's pretty common knowledge that I love playing games in various forms and on various platforms. Consoles, PCs, mobile devices, and even board games.
While browsing through the App Store, I noticed a new game that seems pretty awesome. Virtual multiplayer jousting! Being obsessed with things like Game of Thrones and other medieval high fantasy genres, this is something that should be an immediate download for me.
Of course, I click it and see that it's free.... Read more →
