So, I'm obviously ineligible for this, but I'll share one of my fondest (and most frustrating) memories anyway!

Resident Evil 2

Way back in the day, I bought Resident Evil 2 for the original Playstation. My friends and I had a grand old time taking turns playing it. And we even beat the game a few times. No idea why we loved it so much, but it was one of the first survival-horror style games I had ever played.

Anyway, back in those early days of the Internet, I saw some rumor that talked about some special weapon unlocks for future play throughs (e.g., rocket launcher with unlimited ammo) if you beat the game without saving and without using any health sprays! (And obviously, everything on the Internet is fact, right?)

So, we grabbed a few bags of chips, ordered some pizza, stocked up on cola and stayed up the entire night. It was an 8 hour long, super stressful marathon session. But!

WE DID IT!

We legitimately beat Resident Evil 2 without saving the game once. Or using any of the health sprays sprinkled throughout the game. (Apparently, you could eat plants or whatever to restore your health, so we did that.)

We were so ecstatic that we could cry.

Imagine our disappointment then when we restarted the game, only to find that there was no rocket launcher with unlimited ammo. We stayed up the entire night for no reason. So crazy!

On one hand, we had an epic victory.
On the other, an incredible defeat.

I'm surprised I still play video games.

I had a friend play that game. The only thing I can remember is that it was haaaaarrdd...and scary for its type.

I'm surprised that with about 50 replies, nobody has mentioned having 3 friends huddled around a TV playing GoldenEye 007 for N64

Gosh there were so many great combinations of games and 'cheats' you could do. I'm sure if I dug up my copy I could still beat you all. Temple. Golden Gun, no Oddjob

One of my favorite memories was when my friends and I stayed late one night after working at a Subway restaurant (that my friend's parents owned), and we brought our laptops to have a Diablo2 LAN party in the dark restaurant until we were too tired to play anymore; a little free food was a big plus!

One of my favorite gaming memories - being randomly selected (after applying on Craigslist) by a marketing company in SF for a Halo gaming & pizza night. There were a bunch of marketing types trying to figure out what made us gamers tick. They feed us pizza and beer and we played Halo all night long. It was the first, and only, time I've been involved in something like this. Great night...

My favorite gaming memory is revisiting the original Megaman for NES and realizing just how terribly awful I've become. I remember smashing that game out as a 10 year old and now as an adult I can't even get past the first 30sec of any level lol.

Mega Man 1 (and Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden) were just brutal. I cannot for the life of me make it through Mega Man 1, but I can blow through the nine bosses in Mega Man 2,

Hello I can remember Megaman on NES, it was one of hardest game I played back in the days. I love the challenge. I remember finishing the game in a room full of more than 15 friends watching me. It was a great moment...and a release of frustration. I can relate to your emotion trust me I was close to have done it myself. looll

Me and my friends always used to get together and have a good old man party. It was some of the best weekends of my life. We played halo, or cod and had mini tournaments. Some of us eventually playing competively at a local level and having an amazing time.

I think my most memorable gaming moment must be me playing Skyrim for the first time. right after the tutorial i went exploring the wilderness and i have encountered Winterhold and my bedroom window was open, while outside, just like in the game winter was brewing which made the whole experience much more real and its something i dont think ill ever match with a game and im happy its remembered that way, it makes it one of a kind for me.

Yeah! Skyrim was such a beautiful world to start exploring. My first Elder Scrolls title was Oblivion, and I felt the same way. You suddenly had this expansive open world in front of you and I have no idea what to do.

Then I think a sand crab killed me.

My favorite gaming memory is the first time I heard the Halo CE Gregorian chant. It was so unique and epic, it just stuck in my mind that this was going to be special. Ever since then I always look forward to the variations that original concept between Halo sequels.

My favorite gaming memory to date is the first appearance I the flood in Halo. That was a great memory for me and playing local co op with my friends made it all the more amazing. Now looking back it is still a very enjoyable experience even compared to games to date. I look forward to more experiences like that going forward into the future of gaming.

in Mass Effect 2 when Cerberus 'rebuilt' Shepard and he met up with Joker- then the scene panned to the 'new' Normandy with 'The Normandy Reborn' playing. Goosebumps every time I get to that scene.

Well most of my memories from gaming are driving around in GTA like a com. Obeying traffic lights and keeping with traffic.......after completing the game and not having GTA Online available at the time, it was the only thing I could do after I got bored of going around on some deranged massacre!!.....fun times!!..

One of my favorite memories was playing FFXIV for the very first time not knowing much. I was wondering around until I ran into a random person who began to help me level and answer all the questions I had. The person had the patience of an angel.

We became friends, leveled together, created an FC together and then progressed into a group which then jumped to completing endgame content.

My favorite experience was the first time I received my first Nintendo GameBoy (Black and white) with Pokemon version Blu (1998 in Africa) from my dad returning from a trip. I would say it was one of the best day of my life. Playing Pokemon all night and day until my parent had to requisition my Gameboy because I played for more than 24h without even wanted to eat, sleep, or talk to anyone. I loved it, it was the first time I discovering RPG type of game....I bet others had the same felling. Tell us more ???

I love the vastly improved graphics, processing speed, and controllers, as well as the new menus and social integration with the PS4. Also, with Twitch and live streaming game play I get to watch my BFF Dave, who is a Dodgers fan, play as a Giant's pitcher in MLB Road to the Show. Thank you Sony for making this possible. I now have video evidence of my friend being a closet Giants fan.
