What's the best compact mega-zoom camera?

I currently have a compact camera from Panasonic. It's a pretty great camera, with a 12x optical zoom lens, but I want to upgrade to a better one. (My dad will get the Panasonic.)
I've done a little bit of research, and filtered the selection to three cameras: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX50V, Nikon Coolpix S9500 and Canon PowerShot SX280 HS. They're all new models with very few reviews.
I travel a lot, and I need a big zoom lens, but I don't want to fiddle around with an interchangeable lens camera, or even a larger fixed-lens camera, as I'm quite a light-packer. From sheer technical specifications, the Sony is by far the best of the three, but the very few reviews I've seen and read aren't as positive as I expected.
I like shooting with the automatic mode, but I don't mind using some manual modes every now and then to get a better photo.
Which one is the best for me? Should I wait for more reviews?
