What tricks have you found for the Microsoft Surface Pro/Windows 8.1?

This week I was able to acquire a 1st-gen Microsoft Surface Pro for a ludicrous price as the Microsoft store was clearing them out. Figured I could give one a shot!

I have to admit, I feel a little over my head in terms of tuning things nicely, and seeing all the cool stuff you can do with it. So, I am asking the engadget community for tips to optimize things and see what neat stuff I can find out.

Alright- here are my tips so far-

1. Disable the login screen on boot. Doing this brings me from power-off to metro in about 10-15 seconds. Not advised if you have multiple users . Steps- pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/fl/auto-logon-win...

2. OneNote for metro? Psh use the desktop version if you can. The free metro version is not nearly as functional as the version that comes with Microsoft office. On the desktop version, you can write something with the wacom pen, and then go Draw->Ink to Text and bam! Your writing is in text. That is super cool

3. Speaking of the Wacom pen, install the Fresh Paint app. This seems like a fun way to try be creative, which I am not.

4. Skip Metro (if you want) If you hate metro, which I personally have grown to like, you can boot straight to desktop!. Enter desktop mode, right click on the taskbar, click properties, in the navigation tab, mark the checkbox "Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in."

What are your tips?

You can buy StarTech MUYHSMFF adapter for connecting your headphone and microphone as one since Surface Pro has only one audio jack. You can find more tricks below:
