Who here has a R4 or M3, to play ROMs/Homebrew?

I think the only reason i purchased a DS was because i got a M3 simply for it, it really saved me over 300+ dollars on games i would have bought (more like 600+)
gotta love the hackin community.

Cyclo DS Evolution all the way. Very easy to make your own skins and the video/mp3 player is pretty cool too.

Yep, Cyclo DS Evolution is by far the best.

CycloDS Evolution is by far the best card I've used. I'd definitely recommend it.

Gotta agree. The CycloDS is the best if not, one of the best cards out there. Easy to skin, and being able to load up the Enhanced Menu in-game at any time is definitely a plus.

I love mine, it's so easy to use and easy to update. I love it's integration with the EZ3in1. Launching GBA games directly from Slot 1 is a killer feature. Rumble is nice too :-)

Yep. I've got the same setup. It's great.

Agreed. I have both the R4 and Cyclo, and the Cyclo has a much nicer interface. But not neccesarily a deal-breaker, they both play the same roms just as well :)

I have an M3 DS Real card. I have ROM files of all the games I own on it, and a few I'm trying out. I also keep a few music files on it, but mostly it's a convenience.

True, i love the convenience of never having to keep switching game karts as well.
and its pretty well organized.
I just wish it supported bigger memory cards like 4gb+, at least mine doesn't support anything over 2gb. basically doesn't support shdc, but i usually get rid of games i finish/get bored with.

I have an M3 DS Real running an 8 GB card. I think you just have to make sure the card is formated with the right version of FAT.

same here, really useful, especially for euro/japan only games.

Same here. I have only had problems with a couple games out of the dozens I've tried.

I'm looking to pick one of these up with a GBA extension as well. I just want to have all my games with me. I won't pirate, however. Too many friends in the industry, I'd feel bad. Maybe for my birthday.

go for the CycloDS Evolution it integrates with the EZ3in1 GBA extension so you can launch games straight from the CycloDS interface... none of the BS of patching or hooking anything up to a computer

Anyone know of a FREE Gameboy Color emulator for the NDS Lite?

I haven't used this one, but I think it probably works well. lameboy.nutki.com/

It has an ugly text GUI, but it will run all your game boy/ game boy color games just fine. Even has Super Game boy color and borders.

I have a M3 Real and a R4. I didn't like the M3 as much when I first got it but now I like it better than the R4. I have less game freeze and playing issues. Both are worth the money and makes me enjoy my DS more.

Yep, M3 Real.... Works a charm... Although in the last 6 months the only ROM played on it is "Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?" just for the Sudoku.... And I actually own the original cart..

I have an original R4 (limited to 2GB microSD- so 30-50 games), though I've been looking at upgrading to an R4i with SDHC support whenever I upgrade to a DSi (I don't use the GBA slot on the Lite for ROMs or original games or anything).

R4, no problems with any games really. once in a while you'll need to wait for a patched rom, but it never takes longer than a week.

I did and enjoyed using it. But I gave the system with the M3 to my nephew and he is having a blast with all the games.

i have an R4DS that i got about 6 months after the release of the DS lite and it's really the only reason i still play my DS. i take it on vacation and all i need to bring is my ds and charger and i've got an entire library of games to play.

R4 is the best DS purchase I made so far... does anyone know abt a DSi R4 hack?

My friends Mom asked me about these cards a while back for her son who is 6. It seems everyone is pirating games on the DS now. I wonder how long before developers (other than nintendo) stops supporting the DS. I think nintendo really has to fix this problem. Maybe they should've gotten rid of all the card slots and had internal memory only on the DSi (like say a Ipod touch) and have all content purchased online.

I got a R4 pretty good except for 2 complaints. Kinda sucks that it doesnt take SDHC cards and mine is jacked up and doesnt work with the newer games.. so i dont really use it any more other than for mario cart

The best part is when you let your nephew take it (DS w/R4 +16GB) with you when you are out somewhere and the inevitable "what games do you have?" conversation starts up. My nephew loves to answer "all of them" with a shrug, and sometime throwing in a list of movies and music as an aside. Then when the other kid tries it and realizes what he's holding in his hands! Watching the kids deal with the realization is better than any game. Almost all of them try to wheel-n-deal, lose, or outright steal the cart. I have had parent's clearing out their pockets and offering over $100 cash. It all goes downhill, however, when the game must be pried from the hands (by the parents) of the screaming kid who does not want to part with the object of his dreams. It is great fun!

A friend gave me his R4 card a while back and it's served really well. I've heard people complain about it lacking compatibility with newer games, but I've yet to come across any problems.

I have the EDGE as well, and loaded up a 2GB MicroSD with games for my daughter. Let's just say it's earned her some serious bragging rights around the playground.

Hey guys, I've read all of these and still don't have a clear picture of the best option.

The two favorites seem to be R4DS and CycloDS. I (think if I'm looking at the right thing) I can find an R4DS for under $10, while the CycloDS is almost $50. Thats a big price difference. I really just want to be able to play my old GBA and GB games, I don't need any of the media player functions. Will the $10 option work for me?

Thanks.
