Why are comments being disabled, particularly on a post that asks our opinion?

It tells readers to discuss this in the Engadget forums right in the post!

That said, it's part of a broader strategy and experimentation in discussing technology using platforms other than Livefyre. It's also intended to help bring awareness (and further testing of features) of the Engadget forums.

Why make things more complicated? It worked beautifully before these changes.
Axiom: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Experiments like this should have been done before the change to determine which direction to take it.

This new age way of releasing a prototype into the wild and developing it after the fact is lazy and leads only to harsh judgment and ultimately disappointing the very people you want to please.
