Wii HD

www.engadget.com/2009/09/21/square-enix-president-...

Well my thoughts on when it would come out was a little off but i was not the only that thought the Wii would beat everyone else to its next iteration. Apparently the big wigs are predicting the Wii HD will be out by 2011 and that the PS3 and 360 motion controls will not have any effect in the market, i don't know about that, natal looks freaking awesome but so does a HD wii.

if Natal really does what the wii does WITHOUT having to buy more controllers, it will be huge!! I could see using it more than the Wii (simply because there are more games for 360 overall).

I also find it curious that square enix of all people is commenting on this... they are not exactly multi-console friendly... they do a lot with sony now, used to do a lot with nintendo, and just started working with xbox... hes not exactly in any position to comment on whats going to happen with them... he should stick to his sony games and keep his trap shut... lol

Well that is true but the game developers ussually know whats going to happen before anyone else outside the manufacture.

these guys make no games though!! they have very few series.... he just think the wii has a ton of sales and so thats what people will use... he doesn't realize/care that both sony and microsofts systems are much more advanced....

Ok yeah thats true, which is partially why valve won't touch the PS3, well i guess you go where the money is.

Irregardless of how Natal is or the PS3 motion controller, I don't foresee the Wii HD doing as good as the original Wii due mostly to the fact that most people who bought the Wii aren't hard core gamers and probably aren't willing to pay another $300ish to get better graphics. I'm assuming that will be the main difference between the Wii/Wii HD and controllers will remain near the same except with better 1:1 controlling.

Well if they launch next year i could see them beating out the ps3 motion controls since they are basically the same thing, while i don't think either one is honestly going to touch natal. The thing about the wii, is that it has a much bigger install base right now, and has some of the best first party franchises so Mario or Zelda in HD would sell 20 million consoles easily.

it has the largest install base of people who don't want to buy another console ever... they are very content with their Wii's.

Like if I told my mom or people of her demographic that own Wii's that "you could get better graphics" out of the new Wii, they would all respond "ya, but why bother... I like it the way it is...."

I for one love me some Wii games but I would not run out and upgrade right away... I would feel a little pissed at Nintendo for upgrading so fast and leaving me with inferior hardware......

I agree but if they upgrade to HD and possibly do bluray playback or even DVD with graphics that rival the PS3 they could see even more units.

I really don't think they will have blu-ray or graphics anywhere near PS3 or 360... Like I've said before, it is not just the processing power (hardware) but the artistic design. Nintendo just does not have HD friendly art design in general. The Nintendo games would look the same and only include improved anti-aliasing and textures to be cleaned up on HD screens...

The only thing this could help with is the 3rd parties who have been wanting to exploit the Wii's user base and motion controls but don't want their games to look sh**ty.....

Well i think that is what they are aiming for, 3rd party games are really the only ones keeping the wii afloat and they need to ramp up scale and quality of games since that is why the wii has the highest not used rate.

There is enough people that are satisfied with the Nintendo-only titles though that it won't matter....

at least not as much as Nintendo and these 3rd parties are imagining...
