After reading a review on GiantBomb about Will Sports Resort I am not interested in playing the Nintendo Wii again. After watching the E3 Press Conf last year and this year I was just not into the idea of the motion plus. Now with a indeth look and review of how it really works I think I will be playing again with the Wii. When this console first came out I found that I really kept to the virtual console and Wii sports side of things because many games after that didn't really make me jump though there are a lot of games that require you to jump during a game hehe. Anyway overall if you still are not playing with the Nintendo Wii maybe this would be a good time to try it out again. Me and my girlfriend are going o get this game soon and try it out for our selfs. Oh the review is at giantbomb.com I could not put a link to the review page.
You confused me at first saying that you are not interested in playing again, but i would agree Nintendo is one of those companies that will release an awesome game every 3-6 months that makes everyone want to play again. Its a fun console and i should probably give it a little more love then i do now since i spent so much o nall the games and controllers but oh well.
I pre-ordered this game and I too am hoping it gets me and my girlfriend and everyone else loving the Wii again. The game drought for the Wii is ridiculously pathetic. I thought after the gamecube debacle, they would have learned from this. I know every game developer out there thought the Wii would fail and are only now developing for it, but, seriously, Nintendo could have done a much better job. Microsoft and Sony are throwing millions of dollars around buying exclusives and promoting while Nintendo rakes in way more money than them and just sits on it. I know Nintendo's R&D expenditures are huge, but I don't get any great games from it except for a few times a year. I buy Nintendo games when they come out, but please Nintendo, hire some more people and buy exclusives so we can play our Wii all year round!
This game has been almost everything I wanted it to be. We played it a bunch this weekend - me, my girlfriend, my roommate. I knew it was a good sign when I ask her what she wanted to do today, she said play that new Wii game some more. So far, I love the sword fighting and the 3 point shootout the most. The frisbee games are sweet even though I suck at them right now. The frisbee dog game is by far the cutest thing I've seen on the Wii yet, and I can see it being huge with lots and lots of people.
I think the golf game is greatly improved by increasing the motion control response. It really makes you focus on keeping your wrist straight through the shot and, when I got a few birdies, I really felt as though I worked for them. Same with the bowling, the game was not as much of a gimme anymore. My girlfriend and roommate felt differently though. They said they had broken the games and made them too hard. They could not get used to the new play mechanics. That being said, I was getting upset with them because they would both bowl and golf sitting from the couch before, whereas now they MUST STAND and play correctly. I thought that was pretty sweet and they had taken the realism to a new level. I was like "so they took games they were trying to realistically emulate and made them even more realistic, and now you don't like it??" They said there is some level where its no fun anymore, but I didn't see either of these games as examples of that.
I can't believe I forgot the archery! It is probably the best game of them all. I will be working extra hard to get proficient at this and you can pass the controller for 4 player action. It really takes a lot of skill and patience. I still can't do amazing at the beginner level and I can see expert will offer challenge for years to come.
I would say those 5 games, Sword fighting, 3 point shootout, frisbee dog/golf, golf, & archery, are reason enough to pay the $50 entry fee. They are lots and lots of fun. I played sword fighting game Sword Showdown on single player for about an hour and it was a great challenge and got my juices flowing. It could have easily been a Wii Fit game - same for Canoeing. In Sword Showdown, you take on tons of sword fighters in succession. It looks like a funny samurai film - you're just running through different venues with tons of sword fighters swarming you and you fight them all, get combos, and must mix offensive slashing with defensive blocking, especially on the harder bosses. I think there's 20 stages and I got to like the 5th one and it already required lots of strategy to win. Bravo Nintendo!
It seems like every game has multiple sub games. Bowling has the regular game, a game where every frame is 100 pins, and the spin control game from the first game. Golf is just golf in 3 holes, 9 holes, and 18 hole, but it is far more sensitive and harder to play well. I haven't found the training and exercise options like on the first Wii Sports, but they put some of those minigames there as sub games.
With 12 activities and sub games within them, there is plenty of gameplay. Most of the games are designed to pass around a single motion plus controller, so you don't need multiple motion plus units. The downside is almost all the games max out at two player simultaneous gameplay. Lots are 4 player take turns so you only need one motion plus unit. I will be trying to get all the stamps (achievements) for years to come....
We have sports resort and have been getting a kick out it (figuratively speaking). It's fun, it's not to intense (except maybe sword fights against a friend), and it gets you to move around a little bit. For what it does, it does pretty well.
I just got this game as well, and I like it. It is a nice sequel to Wii Sports, and gives us some more games to get into. I like the airplane game as well as the 3 point shootout. Love the sword play lol
We played it with some friends this weekend and I found out that for multiplayer I really only liked the 3 point shootout, the sword play, speed slice, archery, frisbee dog, frisbee golf, and then the regular golf and bowling game. The 100 pin bowling game was a fun addition too. The wakeboarding can be too frustrating and is kind of boring too. I also noticed because most of the games are play, pass the controller, wait.. people seemed to get a little impatient. We still had a lot of fun though...
I'm great at a few games, especially Archery, but I am the worst at the Frisbee games! I will get good eventually, I have set my mind to it, but for now I suck bad! I got used to playing real frisbee golf and frisbee golf on Tiger Woods 10, but this one is nothing like either of those. Tiger Woods 10 Frisbee Golf was pretty good the time I tried it even though I had mulligans turned on. I wish you could have mulligans on on the Wii Sports Resort version. I couldn't throw the frisbee overhand like I do in real life either on the WSR version....
I miss playing this already. One of the few games with medals and ranking up to be done. The 'achievements' on here (stamps) are easy for the most part, but some are ridiculous. The archery ones will keep me locked down for a while now....
They incorporated the mini/sub games, but I agree, I miss that too. I still do it sometimes for fun. Wii Sports Resort has way more games that tire you out though. Wii Sports was not tiring except for boxing, which should have been titled Wii Spazzfest!
I'm not looking forward to that Wii Fit update game... I used wii fit, then I didn't, then I used it to lose weight. Now I don't use it anymore. I would like to play, theres just lots of other games to play... it is fun, but I don't care right now. I will usually play wii sports before wii fit.. I do want to lose weight again so I may need to get to stepping again...
I'm happy I proved you can use it to lose weight though, and even if you get bored with the games, it is great has a weight tracker since you can install a wii fit app to the wii menu and launch it anytime, even without the disc!
ya, I think you go into settings and it has an option to install the app to the wii menu - Nintendo should have publicized this more because its pretty cool. That marble rolling through the holes game is great for balance - especially on advanced. I'm happy to say I've beaten the regular and advanced version of that one all the way through. Soccer heading on advanced is great fun too.
