F-Secure debunks car mobile phone virus myth
So, you know, attendant with the advent of new technologies is The Fear that hackers will bring civilization to a
grinding halt with them. So now that we have Bluetooth
cars, Bluetooth cellphones, and
Bluetooth mobile viruses, you gotta know that some
company developing car anti-virus software is gonna want you to
be afraid about it. Helsinki-based F-Secure took a Toyota
Prius into a secure bunker (which served the dual role of isolating the vehicle from other cellphones and giving the
project that top-secret vibe) and went at it with a
Cabir-infected phone. The results? Nothing doing. They
couldn't infect the car either by walking within range with the Cabir-loaded phone, or by manually trying to transfer
the virus to the car. Feel free to rest easier at night, alright?

looks to me like it cant get infected by Symbian OS viruses, wouldnt be difficult to extend the cabire virus to infect other OS (such as "toyota" OS) as well as Symbian
