This just in from Amazon, the Star Trek Online Collector's Edition.
The back of the over-wrap cover that shows off all the different things in the CE. This is probably a good time to mention that three of the perks to the CE aren't actually in the box - they're in-game. Collector's Edition purchasers get both the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine outfits, as well as a small ball of Red Matter that can help your ship out with some energy when you need it.
This is the holographic cover, with a clear center to show off the metal insignia badge inside the package. Sadly, it doesn't reflect as nicely in photos as it does in person.
In case you were confused as to what box this is, it's handily printed on the side. The box features a magnetic side-closure, which is a nice touch. It is not, however, a metal box as we hoped it might be. It's just very heavy cardboard with a metallic laminate over it.
The insignia. It's a nice solid piece with a recessed symbol in the center. (Chirpy noise when you press it not included.)
The next thing nestled inside the box is three credit card sized guest passes.
After that, it's the art book. This is a hard-bound book that fits into the box tightly. Thankfully, there's a little black ribbon on the right side that makes it much easier to pop out without damaging it or the package.
Here's an inside peek at the art book. That said, art book is something of a misnomer, as we found out that the Art Book is about half book, and half DVD packaging with a goodly portion of the book taken up by the game manual.
Shiny DVD, perfect for avoiding long initial downloads. (Patching, as we all know, is another matter when it comes to any MMO!)
The Star Trek Online Collector's Edition entire package - passes, book, DVD, communicator pin, and CE box. Add in the two Collector's Edition uniforms, the Red Matter Ball (do not taunt happy fun red matter ball), and the liberated Borg from Amazon, and it's a good set for a Trek geek who loves collecting.
