Let's face it: Windows Mobile may be the phone OS of choice for serious professionals who want to get a lot of work done wherever they are, but it hasn't proven to be the seamless, reliable, and responsive user experience that everyone would like. The 6.5 version looks to improve that, not make any revolutionary changes. When it launches in early October it should be more than just another point release. It'll include a more finger-friendly UI, a way to easily back up, an updated version of Office, and the new Windows Marketplace -- so you can spend too much for frilly little apps. Major innovations they're not, but thanks to some hot new hardware from HTC, Sony Ericsson, and others, we certainly can't wait for its release.
