Cheap tablets are a dime a dozen, and finding ones that don't sacrifice too much in the name of keeping costs down can be challenging. Acer is a veteran in the cheap tablet game and the Iconia One 7 is yet another affordable tablet, meeting basic needs at a budget price of $130. Keep your expectations in check and you'll plenty satisfied.

When something is this cheap the first thing you pay attention to is the look and feel of the device. To Acer's credit the One 7 doesn't feel cheap, with Android Police calling it "surprisingly sturdy" and "really well put together." Computer Shopper says the design is "compact and polished," and Laptop Magazine was particularly fond of the back side, calling it "very pleasant to the touch." Inside the device is a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor and 1GB of RAM -- not exactly top of the line, but just enough for day-to-day activity. CNET finds it performs "just fine," handling "all the basic tasks without a hitch."

The Acer Iconia One 7 is an attractive Android tablet with good performance at a low price, but you'll sacrifice some battery life and screen quality.

If you're on tightest of budgets, the Acer Iconia One 7 will meet your needs for very casual use, but don't expect more than that.

A budget 7-inch Android tab, the Iconia One 7 has a decent screen and design for its aggressively low price, but expect some nontrivial trade-offs in battery life, camera quality, and other areas.

What it is, though, is a good starter device for a kid, an affordable shared device for the family on a tight budget but still wants to have a tablet, or a decent reading companion.

Acer’s $130 Iconia One 7 is attractive, comfortable to hold, and performs well for a budget tablet. But the 8GB of storage (in the base model) is low.

The back is textured for a good grip although it feels plasticky, which is no surprise at this given price point. ... Not that the Acer screen looks bad, it's just not best in class, despite being a newer release. Viewing angles are decent ... we did find reflections to be a little prominent.

This display sits inside standard-sized bezels and is powered by an Intel Atom Z2560 Dual-Core processor clocked in at 1.6Ghz. This means you’ll be able to run any app you like, right off the Google Play app store.

The budget price of the Iconia One 7 is reflected in the quality of its hardware with lackluster cameras and a not very impressive screen. It's cheap and cheerful so doesn't look like one we'll be recommending but check back for the full review soon to find out.

The Acer Iconia One 7 should attract buyers with its colourful design, and that's no bad thing. The specs aren't going to blow anyone's mind but they're respectable enough for this 7-inch tablet, which has a price that we can't really argue with.

The oddly-named Acer Iconia One 7 comes in six different colors, and has a solid, kid-friendly feel. It's also reminiscent of a Kindle Fire.
