Acer's also bundled its Liquid UI on both of its new devices, and navigating the phone in default mode (the way you'd normally enjoy Android) was fluid and responsive. However, we couldn't help but think that the company's latest tweaks have arrived a little late to the party.

The Z4 is more compact with a relatively modest 4-inch display and dual-core processor. Both the E3 and Z4 run Android 4.2.2 with Acer's Liquid UI overlay. New to Liquid UI is Quick Mode, which replaces the traditional Android homescreen with a tile-based launcher.

... for the price, it offers a decent set of specs ... It has a good build and its size is one of its best selling points and the AcerRAPID is a nice touch for one-handed operation. If you are looking for a good looking smartphone in this level of the market, we suspect you won't be disappointed ...

It's not going to win any spec battles, but the Z4 could prove to be pretty popular with its low price point. And with screen sizes getting bigger and bigger, it's interesting to see Acer putting out something that goes against the tide.

The Liquid Z4 isn't a bad-looking phone, and the rear custom button is a feature you don't see often. However, the limited screen quality, low RAM and missing front camera might be hard to swallow for some.

The Z4 seemed to be marginally lagged, despite having a relatively similar 1.3GHz processor. While the rear-mounted button brought the 5-megapixel camera up straight away when the phone was switched off, it still took a moment too long to take the shot.
