It's everything Apple TV should have been when it launched, complete with audio and video podcasts, Flickr and .Mac integration and—most importantly—movie rentals without a computer.

When you've got $100 in your pocket and a burning desire for video and audio options you just can't get from your cable station, is the Apple TV the obvious choice? Well, Roku provides more free stuff if you dig around, and for an extra couple of hundred dollars, you can get almost a full...

The Apple TV is capable within the narrow goals Apple has established for it. In fact, it does what Apple promises very well. But is that enough?

Apple TV. Looks great. Couple with Handbrake and you have a killer home entertainment system. Make sure you have a FAST internet connection if you intend to rent movies - it can take an hour to buffer SD movies over a 1MB connection, 8 hours for HD. Apple TV is a great idea. It has great...

After my initial excitement about our Apple TV my enthusiasm has waned considerably. PROS: • easy to set up • connects effortlessly with my mac wirelessly • easy to sync and manage via iTunes CONS: • sluggish - almost unresponsive when it is syncing • UI is out of date • navigation hierarchy...

Overall it was ok but doesn't compare to the second gen ATV. If you are someone who has a slower internet connection but a large library of movies/TV shows already, this may be a better option though.

Apple TV does what Apple wants it to do, get you to spend money in the apple store. Where’s Hulu or other web video, not YouTube? I use this device as a media player. I have content on a Windows Home Server and this device plays it pretty flawlessly. There are a few minor issues requiring a hard...

Apple TV could have been the greatest thing ever, if only Apple would have tried a little harder. Pros: - It can play/stream music, video from your computer to your television - Great for randomizing photos in a panorama - Video does support HD Cons: - It can only download the information for...

If you're looking for information about how hackable the Apple TV is, how well it runs the hacks, and so forth--this review won't be useful. I have two Apple TVs. I use them for podcasts (audio and video), Movies and TV shows I've bought or rented from the Apple Store, or ripped...

If the price was a little lower on this thing I could easily recommend it to everyone, but so many other devices are cheaper and have most of the functions. I use it all the time for streaming music from my computer to my tv with the photo sideshow that it does. Its killer for parties. Something...

I like apple and all of their products but this one disappointed me. It has limited codec support and sluggish software. I had this for about 3 weeks and decided to return it. I bought a PS3 slim and have found it has better video and audio quality with more codec support. I even put Boxxe on...

Although it served it's purpose for a time. It's just too restrictive, maybe due to the way it's marketed. This device is not a video player but more of a iPod for your livingroom. If the requirements of any video player to play your home movies is to reencode them to mp4 then it's a fail.

I bought the Apple TV because our daughter ruined our DVD player putting the discs in and out. With the Apple TV there is no more handling of the disks. We were able to burn all our movies to our computer in our office and broadcast them to the TV. The menus where easy enough to navigate that...
