Best desktop chat client for OSX?

I've been a long time user of Adium and it's pretty good at doing it's one job: acting a central point for multiple chat services. However it's pretty long in the tooth in terms of updating. The last one was in May 2013, and before that it was December 2012.
Is there any modern client now that is good at handling multiple services, including Google's Hangout service? Adium does XMPP but the Hangout integration is pretty medicore and doesn't pull in group Hangouts. I would switch to Messages but I... Read more →

The OSX Yosemite public beta is currently live to the public [1], and if you're one of the lucky ones who got a code I'm sure you have it installing already. Dana has been kind enough to give some thoughts and opinions on the new OS[2], so now we're curious what you to say. If you were one of the fortunate ones to get the beta key, how are you like the big changes so far?
I personally will not be signing up for the program since I don't want to run into issues with any unsupported software.

Apple's kicks off WWDC 2014 with their keynote which starts in about 15 minutes. For many, it's like a nerd Christmas. (For others, it's annoying and obnoxious.) Regardless, there's bound to be a lot of interesting news. Let's talk about it right here!
