The iNuke Boom Jr. is something of a novelty product, modeled on the 10,000-watt, $30,000 iNuke Boom that Behringer showed off at CES in 2012. PC Mag says its "midrange and high-end performance lacks detail, and in some cases, smoothness, and that it "distorts markedly on deep bass tracks at high volumes." However, PC says it delivers "excellent value if you need a lot of volume and bass from your music." Sound and Vision also likes the Boom Jr.'s volume and says its "bass is undeniably impressive for a dock." However, S&V points out that its "real downside is the old-school feature set" since it only docks with older iOS devices and doesn't support Bluetooth or any other wireless standards. If volume's your top priority, you're on a tight budget, and you don't need wireless (or portability), the Boom Jr. could be worth considering, especially considering that it's now available from some discounters for under $100.

The iNuke Boom Junior is far better than its appearance, name, marketing spiel, or price would suggest. Yeah, the treble can be a little hot with some music, but the unit’s real downside is the old-school feature set. I’d love to see a version that dumps the 30-pin dock and adds Bluetooth.

The iNuke Boom Junior speaker dock delivers exactly what its name implies; it's not very refined sounding, but it's an easy, relatively inexpensive way to crank up the tunes at a party.

With reams of bass, and extreme volume capabilities without distortion, the iNuke Boom Junior makes a potent addition to the glut of iPod and iPhone docks available today. Though it won’t replace a more refined hi-fi system, ... we think many folks may find it fills their basic sound system needs.

Unlike more traditional speaker docks ... the Boom Junior does not come with features like a radio, alarm or electronic display. What it comes with, however, is way better sound quality, making this an attractive option for folks who prioritize powerful audio when it comes to their speaker dock.
