Belkin's Ultimate Keyboard Case for the iPad is a small, lightweight, portable keyboard that takes on a crowded keyboard market but comes out near the top. CNET calls the design "comforting, as if it promised no-nonsense easy productivity," while TechCrunch says the Ultimate "is not small" but that "it sill manages to be just about as low-profile as the Logitech Ultrathin." When using the keyboard for work, PC Mag says the Ultimate "felt a bit more cramped" when compared with the Logitech Ultrathin, but overall "found it very easy to type quickly and accurately on." CNET had the same experience, saying the "keys are a little closely spaced but all laptop-accurate." Even in the crowded space of portable iPad keyboards, Belkin manages to create a functional keyboard that CNET says "might be the best way to turn your iPad into the closest thing to a laptop alternative."

At $99.99, it’s not cheap, but if you’re looking for a way to make your iPad a much more capable text-entry machine, while still offering full protection for your iPad itself, this is a good option.

This keyboard/case has worked well for me and I enjoy using it. The only gripe I have is the lack of a screen lock key as found on most keyboards of this type. That key would make it possible to turn the iPad screen off without closing the case.

Most of the time, I don’t need the case portion, so the Logitech — with its fully detachable keyboard arrangement — remains the superior choice. But for those times when I need a complete keyboard and case solution, the Belkin fits the bill.

The keyboard itself is very good. Belkin has clearly put a lot of effort into making sure the keys have a satisfying action to them, rather than the usual mushy feel you find in keyboard cases...Really though what is most impressive about the Belkin is its size.
