We have the final legacy mobile os is finally being put out to pasture with today's news that the Nokia N8 will be Nokia's last flagship device…
running Symbian as they prepare to move to MeeGo. Now we'll get to see over the next few years how well they can compete and whether the market will be able to support all six of them. By the time all of these have actually debuted in the marketplace it will be four years since the announcement of the first iPhone, the initial catalyst of the modern smartphone era. It looks like I still need a Winmo 6.5 phone. That, or a Blackberry.
After a few weeks without the HD2, I realised I need proper Exchange on a phone - not the Fisher-Price version of it on the iPhone, the half-ass on Droid or the bugtastic equivalent on the N900 - which are my other phones. And so, it comes down to either Blackberry + BESE or a Windows Mobile 6.5 device. That BESE is now free, and clients are also free as long as you're on an Enterprise contract is actually pretty darned attractive. Thank you Apple at least for scaring RIM into that move. On...
