The Brydge keyboard is an expensive iPad dock that attempts to provide a more laptop-like experience than standard keyboard docks. Although some reviewers have found it to work well -- Time calls it "the most laptop-like" iPad keyboard around -- the manufacturer has apparently suffered from inconsistent quality control, and some units shipped to early customers had significant defects. The company has also had customer service issues, responding slowly to complaints and taking a month or longer to replace defective units. While the idea of using a dock to turn the iPad into a laptop replacement is a good one, Cult of Mac points out that "there are better, lighter and much cheaper keyboards out there," while Time, which was generally "pretty happy" with the Brydge, says that "you have to be awfully serious about turning an iPad into a notebook" to buy a Brydge for its $150-$210 price, especially when there are reliable, proven, and much cheaper options from companies like Logitech and Zagg.

So far, I’m pretty happy with mine ... the Brydge is the most laptop-like one I’ve seen, since it turns the iPad into a clamshell device rather than having you prop the tablet up in one way or another.

It’s a shame. If I could take the Brydge’s hinges and combine them with the superior keyboard and lesser weight of Zagg’s ProPlus, I think I’d have the perfect keyboard.

I'd ordered the Brydge back in April as part of their Kickstarter campaign. It was a little more expensive than I'd like to admit (I paid $150), but I was taken in by the design and thought it'd be great to have something that made it easier for my iPad to double as a laptop on trips. Mine...

Initial impressions after a short time using my Kickstarter Brydge+: The first problem is that it shipped with the shims for an iPad 2 already installed; so step 1 for an iPad 3/4 owner is to remove the shims for the 2, and remove the adhesive residue, then put in the correct shim in. I don't...

Well, first of all, I was one of those early adapters. I first bought my keyboard on kickstarter and had all the customer service issues they talked about. I don't have to rehash all of that. Then, last week they reached out to me and asked how it was going. I told them. Customer service was...

With my expectations significantly, and perhaps justifiably, lowered due to reviews on the gdgt site, yesterday I received my Brydge+ (keyboard with speakers) with some trepidation. And ... I'm very pleased. Maybe it's buyer's relief and I'm rationalizing the $210 that I threw into the...

I just wanted to tell you how much I love my Byrdge keyboard, how I use it everyday, how I have shown it to all of my family and co-workers, and how it has made my iPad a much more usable device. I will most likely be buying more for family members this holiday season. Thank you for making such...

I've owned my original Brydge for just over a year now and its easy for me to say it is brilliant. I fly a lot and the fact that the Brydge is essentially a compact little laptop, it allows be to nail my emails while cooped up in couch when I would otherwise struggle to do if I had my Macbook Pro...

I love my Brydge. I'm in sales so am constantly on the road and always have my Brydge with me. I had a faulty key while it was under warranty however (what appears to be new owners) promptly replaced my keyboard no questions asked. The keyboard is amazing but the customer service is equally as...

I think the Brydge is a really good product. It is pretty amazing how good it is for being a kickstarted project. I would recommend this to people if they want a keyboard that works well and looks stylish.

I did my research before I bought my Brydge. Reading all the reviews had me concerned because everything was negative. I bought one anyway and the reviews couldn't be more wrong. The Brydge is so well designed and at the $149.99 price point is perfect. I've had my Brydge for a month and the...

I love having the physical keyboard and built in speaker. It makes my iPad much more functional for me. One of the best unexpected features is the fact that it makes an awesome stand even when you aren't using the keyboard.

Ive had the top level Brydge for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. Its quicker, easier and lighter to grab than my macbook for on the go meetings. That battery life is incredible, the manufacturing makes it feel like a mac and the sound is very impressive. Ive had other iPad keyboards...
