Best vacation DSLR under $700?
I'm going to Sweden and Iceland this summer. I own the Nikon AW100 and plan on using it for most of my pictures and videos by purchasing another battery and bringing extra memory cards. I'm curious if I should invest in something like a Canon T3i. I've never had a DSLR and the size and cost of the thing scare me for taking on a two week vacation. I've had other point and shoots, but I like the AW100 for the durability.
My questions are:
1. How hard is it to learn how to use the thing? How durable... Read more →

Which one to get? Nikon D5100 or Canon 600D (Video is important)
Hey guys,
I'm looking to get a DSLR in the $600-700 price range for Christmas, and it's very important that it can take good 1080p videos.
So now I don't know wether I should go for the Nikon D5100 or the Canon 600D.
Of course shooting still images is also very important.
Any recommendations?

Is this a DSLR you can set as a webcam?
I'm looking towards the Canon T3i primarily for making videos on YouTube. I have a Canon Elph 300HS currently, and I was considering this for the next step up. I just recently ruled out the T3 due to the lack of microphone input.
Now this isn't a deal breaker, but I know certain Canon DSLRs can be set as a webcam (to specifiy, I use Windows 7) through the HDMI output. Is that possible with this model? I'd like to use it with Xplit software to stream a live webcast to Ustream. And if it doesn't,... Read more →

The major difference between a $600 beginner DSLR and a $1400 Intermediate/Pro DSLR
So I walked into Best Buy all set to drop down some benjamins on a Nikon 3100; and the sales guy talked me right out of it... I want to make this into a serious hobby and he stared me clear from any beginner setup from BOTH Canon and Nikon. So... now i'm one confused shopper with a lot of research. Can you guys go down the list of the major difference on a high end DSLR like the Nikon D7000 and the the beginner setups from both top dogs, Canon and Nikon?
Bare with my questions please. I know I... Read more →

Nikon D5100 or Canon Rebel 3Ti (600D)
I know that it's a very difficult question to answer A or B. Both have good things and in the end it will always depend on my decision. However, after reading a lot and seeing tons of videos, I still don't know which one to buy.
The advantages of the Nikon seem to be:
  1. Better overall picture quality;
  2. Handles better higher ISO's;
  3. Smaller and lighter.
The advantages of the Canon are:
  1. Better movie mode (which I don't really care);
  2. More user-friendly;
  3. Better lens choice.

Anyone tried these cameras more in... Read more →

I want this- But how is Canon's customer support?
I currently have a Nikon Coolpix L22 (lame, I know), and am looking to upgrade to the T3i because I need a better camera for photos and filming alike. Now, my Coolpix broke 2 months ago, and I sent it to Nikon, who sent me a replacement for free. The replacement recently broke after about one month, and I am about to send it in again. Long story short, has anyone had any experiences with Canon customer service? If so was it good or bad? I don;t want to invest so much in a camera if I don't get...

T3i or 60D, or 70D?
I have an aging XSi currently - and don't get me wrong, it works beautifully for what I do, but I am considering upgrading to a newer DSLR for no particular reason. Having looked at the cost differences between the T3i/60D, they seem very minimal - however going with the 60D of course is slightly more substantial offerings, especially with the kit lenses. Would you suggest I upgrade only to the T3i, go full on with the 60D, or wait until the 70D comes out (I'm hearing towards the end of the...
