A good product that falls short of greatness.

How we score

The Engadget Score is a unique ranking of products based on extensive independent research and analysis by our expert editorial and research teams. The Global Score is arrived at only after curating hundreds, sometimes thousands of weighted data points (such as critic and user reviews).

Engadget Summary

Canon's PowerShot D20 is a tough camera that can take good shots in almost any environment, including underwater. However, it's somewhat slow, its movie mode isn't the best, and it's more expensive than the Olympus Tough TG-820, which has most of the same features, and is faster at shooting multiple images. Unlike the Olympus, the D20 has built-in GPS, so if you're traveling a lot, and want your images geotagged, it's a better choice. Otherwise, the TG-820 is a better value.
