I'm impressed with the clam case, it's very useful for taking notes during a meeting or when you're surfing the web. Many people, myself included, have mistaken it for a small laptop/netbook. There have been times where I've forgotten I'm using the ipad and my thumbs automatically look for a trackpad. Feels very natural and easy to use.I really only have two issues with the clam case1) The space bar. It feels like it's set too low compared to the other keys and against the edge of case, so when you're typing it's very easy for your thumb to not go far enough and not strike the key hard enough. Resultinginsentencesthatlooklikethis. Easy enough to fix, but when you're taking notes, it wastes time2) The bluetooth doesn't always pick up after the case is closed. This might be more of an ipad problem than a clam case problem but if the device has been idle for a little, the bluetooth can take a bit to reinitialize. I'm sure it's to conserve battery life and all, but it's an annoyance

I own the Clamcase for iPad 2, black. The Clamcase is and does exactly what it is supposed to: provide a wireless keyboard experience for the iPad, encasing it in a shell like a laptop. It's well built and feels very rugged. I have been using it a modest amount for the past two days, but will use it more in the near future. Hinge functions perfectly. iPad snaps in with a solid click. Keys are decent (not up to Apple's quality), but the only complaint about keys is because the keyboard is, necessarily, smaller than 100%. Pluses: - functions great as an iPad stand - holds and protects iPad well - shortcut keys are helpful Necessary compromises: - weight. More than doubles the weight of the iPad. It's necessary to hold the iPad in place. - great keyboard for the size, but it's obviously small because they built it to the iPad's size Minuses: - front lip doesn't appear to line up perfectly - opening and closing the case all the time reduces the coolness and ease-of-use of the iPad - bluetooth connection for keyboard always takes a few seconds when you start it up I am looking forward to using the case more and more. I plan on using the iPad for writing, and this case was necessary for me. I know it makes it like a mini-laptop, but I love so many features of the iPad that this case brought the two together. I am confident in the purchase!
