Digital Storm's Bolt is a gaming PC that manages to combine a relatively small footprint, solid performance, a good range of customization options, and a reasonable price. PC Mag says the Bolt "packs beefy power into a slim, sexy package," and is a "great choice for a PC gamer with a smaller room and a smaller budget." Kotaku calls the high-end Titan configuration a "high-powered gaming PC with all the goodies in as little space as possible without it melting." The Boit's small case does present some challenges for upgraders; Hot Hardware says "the space inside the chassis is so limited that you’ll have to work fairly hard to keep your cabling clean and tidy enough that it will all fit." However, Hot Hardware points out that the pre-built systems have "plenty of good hardware inside," so you may find that an off-the-shelf configuration is all you need.

It's a bit of headache to get inside, but you shouldn't need to upgrade this machine for some time to come. This is a great choice for a PC gamer with a smaller room and a smaller budget.

By sacrificing luxuries, the performance-focused Digital Storm Bolt will satisfy most PC gamers for significantly less than most other small gaming desktops.

This isn't a bad first draft and if the noise isn't an issue for you ... I can't complain too much about it. I'm just not sure the Bolt is worth the expense when Alienware of all companies is willing to sell you a quieter, slightly less powerful system for much cheaper.

The Digital Storm Bolt represents the best and worst of the trend toward smaller gaming desktops. It looks great, and offers plenty of gaming prowess out of the box, but it's not a great choice for gamers who want to tweak their systems or that demand top performance.

Take a card designed for power and temperature control and combine it with a case specifically engineered for cooling components in close proximity, and you've got the best possible marriage of power and profile.

Next time you're in the market for a new small form-factor desktop, the Bolt should definitely be on your list of systems to take a look at. Ultimately you'll need to see if the somewhat limited configuration options allow you the flexibility you require.

The Bolt offers great gaming performance for the price in a flashy, compact package. But compared to similar systems we've seen this year, the custom case is a bit cumbersome and flimsy.

Compared to the rigs we pitted the Bolt against, that’s a decent deal. Although there are some excellent full-sized custom gaming machines to be had for around the same budget level these days, The Bolt's footprint make it attractive where space is a concern or for blending into a home theater...

Though we applaud Digital Storm’s attempt to create a small and attractive gaming tower, the Bolt ultimately strikes disappointment instead of inspiration.
