The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 is the most impressive ScanSnap model yet, but it doesn't provide a standard scan driver, which would give it more flexibility.

At $495, this device is priced high for a lot of home office buyers. And that’s too bad. Because having put this scanner through some very, very heavy use, I’m convinced that it is an outstanding solution for anyone looking for a way to better manage paper and filing.

I'm an Evernote user -- I use it for a lot of my filing and retrieval. And the ScanSnap S1500 works very very well for me. It scans multiple pages into a multi-page PDF and then sends them directly to Evernote, where the Evernote software does OCR and full-text indexing. There is software that...
