It can't compete with the One M8's premium metal skin, but the HTC Butterfly 2's powerful camera and processor make it one of the company's best flagship phones.

The HTC Butterfly 2 is no worse than the incumbent flagship except on the outside. And it offers a better camera and water resistance. There'll be enough users who may find it to be the better package - a bit of a problem that it just doesn't look it.

All considered, the Butterfly 2 isn't especially better or worse than the M8, just weirdly different. ... Ideally we'd take the Butterfly's camera and stick it in the body of an M8. In the absence of such a device, we're inclined to stick with the HTC One.

At its core, the Butterfly 2 feels more like a device to tide over those who felt that the M8 was lacking, but in the back of our minds, we’re really hoping to see HTC carry on some of the new things present here into its next flagship device.

The Butterfly 2 is basically the One (M8) in a plastic body, offering the same user experience that you’d get with the flagship device. ... the HTC Butterfly 2 could have served as a way to fix some of the issues with its flagship counterpart, it ultimately ends up offering not much more or less.
