Microsoft's Wedge cleverly combines a well-designed Bluetooth keyboard with a cover that doubles as a tablet stand. The Wedge's keys are smaller than those on a standard keyboard, though larger and more responsive than those on many other portable Bluetooth keyboards. Although it has shortcut keys for Windows 8/RT, the Wedge also works with Android and iOS tablets, and, if anything, it's a better partner with non-Microsoft tablets, since Microsoft's Surface includes both a kickstand and an integrated keyboard cover.

The Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard offers one of the best designed wireless Bluetooth keyboard and tablet-stand combinations on the market, especially when you pair it with a Windows 8 device.

The price, combined with the poor high-speed typing mean that we can't give the Wedge a particularly high score. We liked it, but not enough to actually spend our own money on it. That's not to say it doesn't have uses, and we do love that stunning build quality and design.

It’s a price worth paying: the Wedge ... turned our Samsung Series 7 tablet into a genuine laptop replacement.

Overall the Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard isn't a keyboard that you'd want to use with a desktop PC, but if you're going to be doing a lot of writing on your tablet, then it is essential, and the Windows 8-specific shortcut keys are incredibly handy.

About Sep 23, 2012

With a $79.99 MSRP, the Wedge Mobile keyboard is more than most Bluetooth travel keyboards, although not too much when you take into account the case/stand and Windows 8 functionality. It's truly this last detail that will make it stand out among the fray.
