Criteria Comments Rating
  • Reception and call quality Holds on tenaciously to calls, even in poor coverage areas. Call quality is a little on the hollow side for the caller, but reasonably loud. good
  • Display Crisp and bright, the overly saturated colors range from punchy to psychodelic. good
  • Battery life Not a strong point, but far from abysmal. so-so
  • Camera Can render great pics in the right lighting, but indoor, low light pics are decidedly lackluster. so-so
  • Ease of use Great restraint in modifying stock Android. The mods added are generally nice! great!
  • Design and form factor Not sexy and svelt, but nicely trimmed with a wonderfully tactile Kevlar back. good
  • Portability (size / weight) Not too heavy, not too light. Wait, isn't that a beer slogan? good
  • Media support No complaints. good
  • Durability Feels solid but not too heavy. A splash proof nano coating inside and out! At this price point! great!
  • Ecosystem (apps, accessories, etc.) Includes QuickOffice with full editing capabilities, not the striped down version. good
Detailed review
With Smart Actions which allow some intelligent customizations, a rich array of high quality Motorola accessories and sporting relatively smooth performance, this is a great choice for your $99. Low point is the poor low light performance of the camera, but you can get some decent pics from this 8 megapix shooter. Expandable storage and the high density display will keep you smiling.
