Criteria Comments Rating
  • Reception and call quality I've been impressed with the call quality so far, better than my HTC Desire, and the speakerphone is the best I've had since my old Nokia 9210. great!
  • Display Good display, quite comfortable reading an ebook and great for media/games. There may be better non-PenTile displays, but I doubt I'd notice day-to-day. good
  • Battery life This is a UK model, so no battery draining 4G. I've made a few basic tweaks to avoid unnecessary battery drain and it seems to last very well. good
  • Camera No comments
  • Ease of use I like the moto additions, such as the smart actions. Other than that it comes down to how user friendly you find Android - I've always found it very intuitive. great!
  • Design and form factor What I like about the design is that it is a little different and feels more unique. A mark lost for the wide bezel though - hope they upgrade the display. good
  • Portability (size / weight) Fits well in my trouser pocket - I prefer large+slim to my small+chubby HTC Desire. But it isn't as comfortable in the hand so marks lost. so-so
  • Media support Works nicely with double twist - suits my needs. good
  • Durability I don't feel I need a case for the RAZR, which means I can make the most of its slim form factor. Time will tell if I'm right. great!
  • Ecosystem (apps, accessories, etc.) No comments
Detailed review
As an upgrade from my HTC Desire this is a fantastic phone. Everything seems a huge step forward; in particular the speed makes it a joy to use. Suddenly all desire for the HTC has evaporated. I'm also less bothered about the wait for ICS - it is already such a better experience that I feel happy waiting before upgrading.
