Criteria Comments Rating
  • Reception and call quality Very clear call quality, but volume does not get exceptionally loud. good
  • Display Large vibrant screen. While only 720p my eyes can't discern any individual pixels while looking very very closely. good
  • Battery life Can get me through a full day with heavy usage, but just barely. so-so
  • Camera After the last camera update the pictures are sharp, vivid, and captured almost instantly. good
  • Ease of use Almost vanilla android. Quick and simple to use. great!
  • Design and form factor Large screen that is made even larger still by off screen keys, unlike the moto x. Extremely thin. great!
  • Portability (size / weight) Light enough to be convenient, heavy enough to feel study. good
  • Media support Has played every game at highest settings, no OS lag, and voice dictation is extremely snappy. great!
  • Durability I feel safe carrying this in a very thin/minimalistic case, but the fact the screen is so large means you must be careful. good
  • Ecosystem (apps, accessories, etc.) Android pure and simple! great!
Detailed review
Purchased over two months ago and couldn't be happier! Easily the best smart phone (out of many) that I've ever owned! Choose this one over the moto x because of the larger screen and off screen keys, which makes the screen even larger still! Decided against the droid maxx to save some cash and a little thickness, and it gets me through a full day of heavy usage just fine! If you want an amazing phone with a huge screen that is easy to slide in & out of your pocket then pick the Ultra!
