If you're building a house from scratch or doing a serious remodel—or you're game for a real project—then absolutely yes. In addition to being the only UL-listed USB outlet we could find, it's the best combination of form and function out there.

If $40 still seems worth it and you are up to the installation challenge, you might try one and see if it works. For me, the "convenience" of digging out only the proper cable vs. a charger and cable doesn't seem worth it.

It works well, but I had to replace the electrical junction box to fit this. Also, for any USB draw over around .5A, you can hear a distinctive buzzing noise.
