Portability (size / weight)
The Nintendo 3DS is an interesting product on the market right now. It has "redesign" being called out by many of its users, and it dropped its original price quite early in its life cycle. However, after months of use from my 3DS. I have to say I enjoy it a lot. When I compare it to my DS, I see a few things that are different. I notice the battery life is worse, which is a bad thing. But then again my DS Lite never died on me, so for all I know, my 3DS never will either. The DS has a larger game library. Well true, but the handheld console is quite new, and we are seeing Nintendo announce a large selection of titles over and over for this system. All of the games that have been released by Nintendo are quality. Sadly there isn't a large amount of great third party content on the 3DS yet. This is most likely due to the heavy push towards mobile gaming on smartphones. If you get a 3DS, I can assure you, you will have enough games to play. Nintendo has released enough to keep users happy. Plus with the Virtual Console games and eShop you have a lot to work with. The 3DS deserves a chance, especially if you're a fan of Nintendo. I have owned every Nintendo console that has been sold, and this one is a quality product. I recommend trying it before you buy it. The 3D is intruiging, but being able to turn it on/off is nice. If they didn't have that feature I would be displeased. If you aren't into gaming all that much, and you like 99 cent games that are terrible. Then go buy a good smartphone for $200+ and a data plan. For the price of the 3DS, and the games available, giving the Nintendo 3DS a chance is not going to hurt a gamer like you.
