Watch_Dogs on Wii U
details
Given the news that the DLC for the game will not be included in the port[1], coupled with the already mixed-to-low reviews of the game for PC and other consoles, not to mention the fact that the port has been delayed for several months, how poorly do you think the game will be received when it finally hits shelves?

Is it fun to watch gaming livestreams?
details

Livestreaming gameplay has blown up big in the past few years, to the point where both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have it baked it into the consoles themselves, with the PS4 making it as easy as pressing a button on the Dualshock 4 and you just have to tell the Xbox to broadcast. But not the Wii U -- and when asked about that at E3 by the folks at Polygon, Reggie Fils-Aime said,
"We don't... Read more →

Nintendo Strikes Back: What do you think of Nintendo's E3 announcements?
details
No, Nintendo didn't announce a new Super Mario Strikers game (though the timing would have been great), but they talked about a whole bunch of other games and products worth getting excited about -- but are they enough to revive the flagging Wii U?
Biggest on the slate was something we all knew was coming -- Nintendo's NFC figurines, known as "amiibo." Amiibo are very similar to Skylanders and Disney Infinity, though right now they look to be more of an add-on to compatible games than the center... Read more →

Share your impressions of Mario Kart 8!
details
http://i.imgur.com/zeF7z0E.jpg
*tap tap* Hey, is this thing on?
Whenever I talk about Nintendo, it sounds like the audience gets smaller and smaller. We know this, Nintendo knows this, and despite this, they keep on keeping on.
No matter though, Nintendo recently released Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U! Those of us who grew up playing the original Super Mario Kart on the Super NES have very fond memories of the game. So, how does Mario Kart 8 compare to that classic game of the past?
If you've purchased... Read more →

Ubisoft's Upcoming Games and TV Projects
details
Just curious on what Ubisoft have in store at E3 2014 for the current consoles, and if Ubisoft Motion Pictures might share details about any new programs, or even episodes of "Rabbids Invasion", that might complement those gaming titles on Xbox One.

Most especially would like to see early details about the rumored "Prince of Persia" on UbiArt Framework, if true, and "Assassin's Creed" the movie.

But, what do you guys expect from Ubisoft?

What's in your home-theater setup?
details
After about three years of building, scrimping and saving my home theater is finally complete and I'm curious what the Engadget forum-members have in their theater or living room. Here's my setup:
Display: 65" Panasonic VT60
Speakers: Klipsch Quintet (they're the 2011 models),
Subwoofer: 12-inch Klipsch Synergy HG 300W (it hits 24Hz and makes me very happy)
A/V Receiver: Onkyo TXNR515
Components: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U, a crappy Comcast SD cable box, Chromecast
Oh and for... Read more →

E3 reveals?
details
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/06/e3hedimg619px.jpg
So, we're about two months away from E3 (Paris Fashion Week for games, for the uninitiated), what do you want to see from Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony? Given that everyone's new hardware is out in the wild, the focus this year is likely going to be on games, games, games, games and possibly a bit of VR.
No one knows what any of the platform holders have in store for this fall, but there are a handful of third-party games... Read more →

How would you change Nintendo’s Wii U?
details
The Wii was, undoubtedly, the success story of the previous console generation, encouraging millions of novice gamers to wave their arms around like a crazy person. The Wii U’s big gimmick, touchscreen gaming, made plenty of sense, considering the quantity of mobile and DS users out there, but it never seemed to take off in the same way. Launching well ahead of the Xbone and PS4, the general opinion of our reviewer was that it simply wasn’t ready for the big time, and sales seem to have... Read more →

Taking a page from our database czar Kris, I thought that a good way to encourage us to finish a game a month would be to have a place where we could talk about what we're playing. Today marks the release of the survival horror game Outlast on PS4 (finally!) and I thought this would be a great place to start. It's a free download if you're a PS+ subscriber, or $20 if you aren't and I'm going to imagine it isn't... Read more →

Nintendo lays out their game plan for the future: change is a comin'
details
Nintendo held a strategy briefing Thursday morning (Wednesday for US-dwellers) where they outlined their strategy going forward in the wake of ongoing financial losses, especially in the last quarter, which forced them to cut their sales forecasts for not just the struggling Wii U, but also the much stronger 3DS. You can read the Engadget post for more details (http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/29/nintendo-wii-u... but some general highlights:
  • Analysts from both inside and...

Should Nintendo also acquire a franchise to attract hard-core gamers?
details
When Microsoft made the move to purchase the Gears of War franchise, I immediately thought about Nintendo. Nintendo lacks a hard-core gaming audience and although it has succeeded many times without that audience, I think the best way to start gaining their attention would be to purchase a franchise that already exists instead of trying to build one from scratch. No existing franchise will want to build for Nintendo exclusively due to the risk of lack of sales but if it was bought out by... Read more →

Favorite games from 2013
details
We've had some exciting gaming discussions here in the forums over the past year. We talked about our initial impressions of the new consoles, if Nintendo can survive, and even what games we're all playing. As the year wraps up I thought it'd be fun to get a good idea of the communities favorite games to come out in 2013. This serves as a great way to check out games you may have missed or forgotten about.

Do you prefer the physical or digital versions of video games?
details
With the next generation of gaming consoles having officially arrived, many are trying to decide if they are going to stick to the physical versions of games or go all digital. There are the pros and cons to each, but I am firmly in the physical game camp when I can. I like the look of physical games on the shelf, I enjoy the box art for my games, and I know that I shouldn't rely on the console manufacturer to get my digital games back in some sort of crash or theft of my device. Looking at you... Read more →

What defines a new generation of game consoles?
details
http://media.engadget.com/img/product/34/qcp/9f36-640.jpg
With the release of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One this month, many are declaring it the start of the "next generation of consoles," in particular the eighth. Both machines are competing with similar specs and games, though each has its own unique attributes to push gamers in one direction or the other.
"But," a few have said, "the eighth generation actually started a year ago, with the release of the Wii U!"
And the response from some... Read more →

what is the most basic free form 3d "walkabout" game on WiiU?
details
My kids are wanting to play games, but the new Mario game freaks them out when a Goomba approaches. They're still trying to understand the abstraction that the dpad moves their character on screen (my boy is 5). Is there a free form, open world, area that they can grasp the concept of just navigating a 3d environment without any enemies or time limits?

Next Generation, all it's cracked up to be ?
details
I've been a long time console gamer,.. Skipped the PS1 & PS2. Had a mega drive, game cube, xbox, xbox 360 and a PS3. Pre-ordered an xbox one (due to most of my buddies being Xbots) planning on picking up a PS4 in the new year.. The big question I have from what I have seen is "what's all the fuss about" sure BF4, COD, FORZA, KILLZONE all look nice but it's all been done before.. Where is the the next generation of IP ? Destiny looks promising, Titan fall looks interesting but nothing blows...

Wii Mini could negatively impact Wii U
details
Last week Nintendo announced that the Wii Mini will soon be released in America. I don't see the point. Especially if they are already behind in sales based on their goals for the Wii U. While their two competitors are moving forward with new hardware for this holiday season, they're going backwards -literally to the previous gen. How about some more energy and hype into all of the promise and potential that the U could offer? As it is, last I heard, EA and 2K both have no current intentions on...

What are your most anticipated games for this holiday season?
details
With 2 new console releases, launch titles, and too many other games to count coming out this holiday season, it can be tough deciding which games to preorder and purchase versus those to wait on. There are the big AAA titles coming to all consoles, and then there are the smaller Indie titles. It can be hard keeping track of the delays, release dates, and sheer number of games being released.
If you are on iOS and need help keeping track of it all, I've been using this great app called Launch... Read more →

Will Nintendo rebound?
details
It is almost shocking to talk about it, but just a few years ago, Nintendo was dominating the console wars. Everybody and their mother wanted to have the Nintendo Wii. It was a game changer in terms of the way you play your games. It was a breath of fresh air in the eyes of many and together with the Nintendo DS, Nintendo ruled the gaming world.
Suddenly, Microsoft's Xbox 360 started increasing in sales due to the Kinect and with the low sales of the Wii U, it seems that Nintendo may be losing... Read more →
