While it's not the best in any particular aspect, and you probably don't want to use it for video, the Olympus PEN E-PL3 offers an excellent balance of size, features, performance, and photo quality for the money.

The E-PL3 is an impressive and funky compact system camera, but third time around we were hoping, perhaps naively, for consolidation of past glories rather than throwing us, in a couple of key respects, something of a curveball.

First things first, a lot of reviewers pan the Olympus and Panasonic Micro 4/3's cameras because of the lack of a viewfinder. It's a limitation sure; but it shouldn't be a deal breaker if you're looking for something better than a compact point-and-shoot or "super zoom." Too many times I've...

This camera was a recent purchase, and my first test with it was getting shots with the family at Thanksgiving. On first take, I am pleased with the purchase. I was able to get the e-pl3 for $199.99. I had been researching a new camera since the summer, and I had been tracking the price on this...
