The GameStick is fun to use, but right now there aren't enough sophisticated games to lure in more serious gamers.

The GameStick is a sleek, intuitive alternative that could catch up if it had the right software, but right now, it lacks enough titles to make it competitive.

The idea is sound. The micro-console proper is fascinating—having all of this power in a tiny dongle when I was a wee lad would've left me weepy with joy. But the execution and horrible controller are just not worth your money.

While streaming nongame content is a bit of a disappointment, the GameStick is a satisfying alternative to buying Android based tablets and smartphones if all you want to do is access games released on that operating system.

The GameStick is well built, with a passable controller and some cheap games to download, but it offers nothing that will keep you coming back day after day, game after game.

It offers nothing meaningfully unique, and is almost universally either a little behind or considerably behind other consoles in other areas. There's the potential for something good in the idea for the GameStick, but it remains unrealised here.

I never thought I’d say this about one of our lowest-scored products ever, but seriously: if you’re not 100 percent sold on the GameStick’s form factor, spend the extra $20 and get an Ouya.

GameStick is tiny, light and offers great media playback, but it’s hampered by a shoddy selection of games and a closed operating system

The system feels like its off to a strong start, though -- as tends to be the case with these things -- it all depends on the content available. Thus far, a variety of not-so-thrilling Android games are available, but we're hopeful for the future.

During our time with the device, we navigated GameStick’s custom, heavily-simplified UI, complete with full player profiles and a fully functional online store. We didn’t experience any lag or slowdown through the GameStick’s proprietary controller.

Our first impressions of the GameStick are generally positive ones. The gamepad, although larger than we envisaged, is sufficient for the kind of casual gaming that the system is aimed at and the simplicity of the setup gives it great appeal.

Gamestick's decision to stick with a Super Nintendo style controller makes it familiar to any gamer over the age of 25, and despite having a completely flat back, the bulges on each side makes it a very comfortable device to hold. The firm's positioning of the analogue controllers felt good.

One of my biggest annoyances with the system is the fact that any purchase you’ve already made on Google Play will not transfer over to the Game Stick. This system features a separate store, so you’ll have to buy all of the games you’ve already purchased all over again.

I literally have only had about an hour, so please consider this more first impressions than a full-fledged review, but I am reasonably impressed with the Gamestick. It's true that the majority of the games available on the console aren't new, and have been available on iOS or Android for 2...
