The Ultra is a nice step forward for the Flip Video series. We'd still like to see a flip-out LCD and, more importantly, some sort of expansion slot for more memory ... While Pure Digital maintains that its user surveys show that Flip owners aren't demanding an expansion slot, the fact is that people do take video cameras on extended vacations and don't necessarily have a computer with them to offload their photos. If you shoot videos over a week--or even a few days--60 minutes gets used up quicker than you'd think. But even with those small knocks against the Flip Ultra, its newly upgraded software and superior video quality make the Ultra the current leader in the budget digital camcorder space. quote

Instead of crippling this "camcorder," the simplicity elevates it. Comparisons with a real camcorder are nonsensical, because the Flip is something else altogether: it's the video equivalent of a Kodak point-and-shoot camera. It's the very definition of "less is more."

With improved video quality, a slightly trimmer design, and upgraded software package, the Flip Video Ultra is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the emerging low-end digital camcorder category.

You won't find a cheaper way to capture video clips on the go. While the Pure Digital Flip Video Camcorder doesn't offer the same video quality as low-end MiniDV camcorders (about $250), it's perfect for shooting quick clips and is simple enough for anyone to operate.

If you have no plans to show your footage outside YouTube and other video sharing sites, so much the better. However, if you have plans to showcase your vacation videos on the big screen TV, do not expect a pleasant experience.

I love that it uses AA batteries. I find it much more convenient to replace batteries when your out and about than to find something with a USB port and wait an hour for the thing to recharge. It may make it a tiny bit bulkier, but the convenience of going from 0 to 100% power in seconds is well...

The best camera you can have is the one you have with you. You'll have to go out of your way to find a reason not to carry this one. Now that I have my Panasonic LX3 with me most of the time, I find that I don't really need the Flip camera much any more... but it has enough going for...

This video camera can probably be purchased for less than $100 and for that price, you really can't be too picky, so I'm not going to be. However it is a solid little video camera, that uses an internal flash memory and AA Batteries. The video resolution isn't the best, and if...
