- Reception and call quality Pure sound, I am taking classes at one building that is fully made out of concrete and my old phone never got good reception, but SG3 has no trouble.
- Display Before I had iPhone 4, and I felt that screen was too small use, 4.8 sounds big but it is perfect when u want to read colorful PDFs and full Desktop pages.
- Battery life No matter how long phone can work for without recharge u always want a bit more! BUT I get thru the day with at least 30% battery left, browsing 4g music etc.
- Camera Never seen smoother camera on the smartphone! 8mp, 1080p, shoot photos while taking video, and so many features! And all of that with the Amazing 4.8 screen!
- Ease of use Very easy to use, with all of the features exploring the phone makes it enjoyable!
- Design and form factor Love design! Round-ish looks perfect. Just put it on the glass table outside and let people stare at it for money)
- Portability (size / weight) Light, slick, only 133g, perfect in hand, what else to say?
- Media support From the start this phone natively supports .flac music format over 1000kbs rate! Amazing, love music and video player!
- Durability Love design of the device, but after iphone plastic back feels kind of gimmicky, wished for some sort metal back-plate, afraid to scratch this beauty)
- Ecosystem (apps, accessories, etc.) Every OS has its own pluses and minuses and people have different tastes. I like Android, it has everything modern smartphone needs, for games buy consoles.
I got my Galaxy S III, a week ago from T-Mobile, Pebble Blue 16GB tra-la-la, hopefully you know the specifications if you are looking at the reviews. I will try to share my honest opinion about this marvelous piece of engineering. First I have to say everybody in the world has own opinions and preferences about what they like to use and I am not here to argue with specifically what you think or believe, I am here to just present what i think about this device.
In the beginning I have to say I've used many android devices and honestly most of them lagged pretty noticeably on the Home screen. And it is Home screen, the face of your phone, where you can put so many widgets and personalize your homescreen however you want for it to be yours, and that lag just ruins all of that experience. Galaxy S III can give you lag free, insane responsiveness and smoothness, even after filing up every page with animated widgets and having Live Wallpaper running in the background, while it is on HD 720p screen. No lag, and all with S4 dual-core, that was already seen on other devices.
Multitasking, well firstable have to say that i have US version so instead of 1gb of RAM I have 2gb and at first i had a dilemma between losing the 4-core to 2gb RAM. That is this term or concept in psychology called "Synthetic Happiness" [correct me if I am wrong] the question was, with which phone I will be more happy? In the end it actually does not matter i will be equally happy with either of the devices, although it is known that when people have a choice they always regret that they did not pick the other one. I can tell you that feel that losing 2 cores did not slow down the performance of the phone in any noticeable way it still runs insanely smoothly, home screen, web browsing, video, games. Maybe in benchmarkings there is significant difference, but I did not buy this phone for games and whatever needs 4 cores. But the extra 1 gb of RAM actually gives you quite kick in multitasking. I can actually can run so many applications that even on the next day I find out that I still haven't finished that Fruit Ninja game and it still paused. Web, document editing, music, watching last episode of "House M.D.", checking email, Fruit Ninja, some random apps, and etc., and all of it is running at the same time and there still room to go in about of 200mg of RAM free!!! i have never seen something like that on any mobile device.
The Screen, more like a 4.8" monitor, emm closer to 5" and thats like Note, round up a bit and u got 7" tablet?ehhh? One word Huge, but in the same time I think it its the perfect size of the screen of the true Android Flagship Smartphone. You have to keep in mind that people have different sizes of palms and for some it would would be quite difficult to hold this phone. In my hands it is just what you need no more. One thing that disappointed me was instead of RGB it was Pen-Tile display, but with the HD resolution you can't even notice and with Samsung did a great job on getting rid of that blue-tint on the display. I have to say i had iPhone4 before (amazing device nothing against it) and it felt like the screen was too small for like browsing and reading books, pdf, so I bought myself a tablet to use it for that, but this device is like all-in one the screen that is perfect for desktop no lag browsing, pdf reading, movie watching.
Battery life, you can never be happy with it. it seems like technology is moving becomes faster and faster and battery life just becomes worse and in good cases it stays the same. With the specs that Galaxy S III has I have to say that it actually keeps up with the future) usually after hardcore usage day you just must put your phone on charge or else it will die while it is going to be in sleep mode.... Not galaxy S III, I was using wi-fi, 4g browsing, music listening, document editing, watching clips, and the main (but lost in the name of computers) purpose of any phone calling people whole day, and after that I came home with solid 40%. You can be pesimistic and say, "And, so what?, You still have to charge it to use it tomorrow!" Or, imagine for a second you are like me and always forget to put it on charge, would you like to have your device dead or with like 37~32% left? What if u have an important call in the morning and you will miss it? Or what if you live life of the party all night and there is a girl (guy?) and you would want to get her number, and do u really think that you will find a piece of paper and even something to write with, joke.... In the end for battery life all that matters that nothing will last for ever, somethings perform better, some worse, and our expectation always will be higher that we actually need on the present day, although that's what is pushing it farther. I give 9/10 to the battery life not because i am greedy and want more out of it (like 9000 years)[all though I wish it would last longer like 2 days, maybe 3] but because i love it and it is great with all of that super power packed within this beast, and it is more than enough, if not you've got yourself one of the few flagship phones with REMOVABLE BATTERY.<-major hint)
Design, yeah, yeah, does not feel like a premium design..... Wait is premium design?(Open question...) Phone made out of glass?, too heavy. Out of some alloy of magnesium, or titanium or make it out of gold so it would weight like my laptop....It is quite finger printy, but that plastic makes it light, it could be better but nothing in the world is perfect. It could be better.
After re-reading my review, I realized that I am in love with this phone. There are many other choices out there. It was something like "Veni, vidi, Emi" [i came, i saw, i bought]. i saw the phone out of other choices tried it and bought it and completely satisfied with it. I definitely suggest this phone to anybody who likes movies, web browsing, reading online magazines, and just taking amazing pictures. And as I said there are always minuses and pluses and I've tried to show what I have experienced, but if you out there searching for new device this might be one of your favorite choices. Good luck, and thank you for reading my review.
