Criteria Comments Rating
  • Speed and features The Pentium processor hardly slows down (sure, you can't play hardcore games, but no lags for everyday use). Camera, NFC, digitizer, SSD.. All in, wonderfull! good
  • Design and form factor The metal lid gives it a premium accent, the weight is well balanced, the flip mechanism is simple and robust. Only the plastic on the bottom can be improved good
  • Battery life No comments so-so
  • Display Simply gorgeus. Vibrant colors, perfect view angles, responsive touch and great pen digitizer great!
  • Durability No comments good
  • Expandability Memory card slot, 2 usb 3.0 with charge capabilities (only one), HDMI (non mini) in a convertible: quite impressive. Sure, forget to upgrade ram or ssd.. good
  • Noise The fan is stopped for 90% of the time. When it starts, you've to keep your hear very close to understand if it is really running! great!
  • Portability (size / weight) It's a very pleasure to put it into the bag and enjoy a full computer experience everywhere; at the same time, on the sofa the tablet mode is simply a pleasure good
Detailed review
It took lot of months for me to choose a convertible as my travel mate. Finally I took the Sony for two main reasons: price and features. I was lucky to find an incredible offer on Sony's Italy website, so I got the Pentium 3520 processor with 8gb of rams for only 630 euros (digitizer included), nothing in comparison with other convertibles (Yogas and so on).
At the same time, it is hard to find a Full HD display, SSD, 8MP camera, backlight keyboard, active pen digitizer and NFC on a single device.

The first impression when I opened the box was "wow". I chose the black version, the metal lid is very premium, like the keyboard surface. The screen rotation mechanism works really well (rubber was well used to create stability in each scenario of use). Only the plastic bottom seems not so good, but guys, it's the bottom..

Screen is gorgeous. Very good colors and view angles, touchscreen responsive and nice pen recognition (it is n trig, not Wacom, but i feel not no many differencies).

Overall performance was quite unexpected: the Pentium processor runs with no problem most of the software i tried (sure, i don't use it for video editing). No lags, no problems at all.

Battery life is not best in class, but 5/6 hours is enough for me, so I can deal with it.

One of the things that I don't like very much is the keyboard: seems crappy. But at the same time, i hardly miss a key and I can write fast, it is only about feedback.
