At just 2.4 pounds, the Portege Z930 is the lightest 13-inch Ultrabook currently available, and it's also a solid performer, with good battery life. It includes a fast 128GB solid-state drive, Bluetooth, HDMI and VGA output, Intel wireless-display support, and USB 3.0. It also has a gesture-ready touchpad, which should serve it well when Windows 8 is released later this month.

The Toshiba Portege Z935-P300 is an ultrabook that makes very few concessions in the name of lightweight and thin construction. It's a powerful system with a very good battery life.

As far as Ultrabooks are concerned, the Satellite Z930 is a beauty. It's only about 17mm at its thickest point and it weighs well under 1.2kg. Despite being so thin and light it still manages to pack in full-sized ports and very good performance.

The Toshiba Satellite Z930-10X manages to offer an excellent balance between power and affordability. It's a very accomplished Ultrabook - thin, light and powerful enough to handle a wide range of tasks simultaneously.

The Toshiba Portege Z930 might be the lightest 13in laptop in the world - which is undeniably impressive - but it’s not the prettiest or the best. Admittedly there’s not an awful lot of choice when it comes to business-capable Ultrabooks, especially ones also equipped with 3G.

Its performance belies its size considerably, and its battery life is reasonable if not exceptional in its class. Unfortunately, all this quality comes at a considerable cost.

Even with this low weight, the ultrabook offers some of the best running times available and has a very reasonable price tag. Of course, the design of the system is rather dated with its boxy look and the lighter weight does make it feel more flimsy.
