FireWire 1600 and 3200 approved by IEEE {Engadget}
Jul 31st 2008 3:32AM The advantage is in the use of things other than sata. While esata has benefit in providing connection to externals, you might see power over 1600/3200 as well as daisy chaining. The last I heard of the protocol, the FCC submission said that the same 800 plug would be used but offered something much more in terms of how the protocol takes advantage of the pins. I havent read it in a while so the details will remain vague from me. Perhaps the more useful applications will be the use of large, full frame DSLR and landscape cameras that will transfer cards full of 30MP pictures and High Definition Cameras that will transfer 50 GB per transfer and from someone using a camera as a deck, such as a prosumer or a small budget videographer, the lack of a tape deck requires high speed transfer. We could get into other AV/multimedia applications but basically, anything that doesnt use a hard drive is fair play and anything that does, might as well use it for a standards consistency.
LG Display showcases two-sided LCD panels {Engadget}
May 22nd 2008 12:39PM Sadly, QXGA is 4:3 so I can't modify my laptop for reversible dual monitors :-(
(yes I know this could cause a major heating issue with some computers ie my old G4 powerbook, ahem)
LG Display showcases two-sided LCD panels {Engadget}
May 22nd 2008 12:36PM I am just stoked about the resolution on the 15". I am all about pixel "density". I am a fan of the reversible screen, it will be great to use on tablet laptops where when you close the screen, it will have the capacity to be used as a tablet and when it is open, it is nothing more than a standard laptop. Maybe even providing some animated graphic as a cover for the laptop or enabling features such as dashboard or sideshow depending on platform. Ofcourse, being able to play a dvd on the backside and entertaining others while you work is always a great feature.

Bunk! Nissan won't be unveiling a GT-R V-Spec in Geneva {Autoblog}
Apr 22nd 2008 12:22PM There was a great comparison in Road and Track this month and it showed the comparison between the 911 turbo and the GT-R along side a corvette. The GT-R reigned supreme but there is a styling in the 911 that cannot be escaped. i agree the GT2 comparison would be nice but as the 911 Turbo was not in the price range of the other two cars here, the GT2 will just be many times the price. I want to see more about comparable models like the isF
PS3 firmware engineers interviewed, DTS-HD MA support on the way {Engadget HD}
Apr 9th 2008 8:35PM as was mentioned, dvd player (assuming this means BD player in reference to PIP) uses less resources than it used to since the latest update. This would lead us all to infer that the DTS-HD MA is possible due to developers having the ability to allocate resources. This is the first time I have ever thought that a PS3 might be a possible component for the future. My hd-a30 will handle my normal dvd's fine and my collection of hd's the ps3 can be for all my divx and maybe a few future HD titles.
NetBlender prepping Blu-ray disc to iPhone connection? {Engadget HD}
Apr 9th 2008 4:27AM So basically, the BD-Live streaming content that almost no one really watches and nearly no one cares about will be available to the iPhone which perhaps a higher number of blu-ray owners will have. A target market for a product with limited use in functionality. As for the remote control idea, shenanigans!
Everex Cloudbook MAX plays on Sprint's XOHM WiMAX network {Engadget}
Apr 1st 2008 5:00PM If it comes with Linux for less then this might be a possibility. I'll still be waiting on comparison in functionality between this and the 8.9" EEE running Linux. (Patiently tapping foot)
Nielsen VideoScan High-Def market share for week ending March 23rd, 2008 {Engadget HD}
Mar 28th 2008 11:10PM It's all about television man. I am not even joking! I have an HD DVD player and i can still guarantee that more people will watch American Idol in one night than there will be BluRay discs sold in a month. Wake up and smell the coffee, media is dead. Live television (pre recorded) is in! man, Live is SOOOO much better than HD, because it is ... like... real! :-) I dare someone else to adopt this philosophy and fan boy it to hell (all pluses on your comments from me if you do, i swear!)
