More details revealed on Dell's Latitude XT tablet {Engadget}
Aug 3rd 2007 3:42PM It'd be interesting to see how this fares against HP's 2710p Tablet PC in regard to battery options. The 2710p has 6-cells standard (which gives around 5hours of light use) with the option to double up to 12-cells, although that brings the weight above 2kg. If the Dell is competitive in that regard and of similar weight I'd probably vouch for the Dell due to configurability factor (the outdoor display option looks interesting).
We DON'T want GPUs in this thing sucking the battery dry in a couple of hours, that's not the point of Tablet PCs.
I am buying an iPhone based on Walt Mossberg's video review below. {The Jason Calacanis Weblog}
Jun 27th 2007 12:06PM Deal breakers for me:
- Connectivity
- Soft Keyboard 1-fingered typing is NOT competitive with Treos/Nokia's products w/QWERTY, otherwise we'd be typing on soft computer keyboards right now.
- Design is slick but not Robust

MacBook Pro updates coming June 5th? {Engadget}
Jun 1st 2007 2:45PM Samsung has a 15.4" PVA notebook LED backlit panel ready to go soon. Less likely it'll feature in the 17" model though, perhaps later in the year - it's more economical for them to start with LEDs in smaller models simply because less LEDs are required and it's easier to get even lighting. Sony has had 11, 12 and 13" LED backlit models out for some time now, expect Apple to be shooting there (along with utilization of the new 15.4" panel) with their updates.
btw for those who aren't clear on this - the 3 clear benefits of LEDs will be:
1) Wider color gamut reproduction (this might not be noticeable or matter to most)
2) Slimmer LCD panel casing required (i.e. 0.8" MBP could become a reality due to this tech)
3) Better stamina - the Sony SZ non LED lasts 4hrs typical on normal models and 5hrs+ on the higher end models which have the LED (all else remaining similar).
Palm Foleo announced {Engadget}
May 30th 2007 3:47PM Does anyone have a link to the spec sheet with dimensions/weight/resolution etc?
And please, guys, keep the knee jerk reactions to yourself. This product is *not targetted at replacing your notebook computer*. It is NOT a macbook or a thinkpad or tablet PC or nor is it trying to be. Get over yourselves.
I'm looking forward to seeing how they've overcome the traditional constraints of subnotebooks - all of which seem to be expensive, run hot and need extended batteries for any kind of decent stamina. If they've knocked out 5hrs from this thing using a traditional phone style 1500mAh or 3-cell battery whilst keeping the weight under 2lbs that'd be a first, for sure.
