@bluespirit

You have to be more specific here. Apple is most probably coming out with a multi-functional large multi-touch handheld device of some kind. And because it's going to be multi-functional of course they will charge more than $200 bucks.

But a $200 buck web only tablet is I believe still do-able. Mike screwed up the execution is all.
@Special Agent Steve

Amen Brotha!
How about hints about the mactouch/netbook/tablet device? I wonder if we will get hints of its existence from the info on the SDK?
Do you all think new hardware might be included in the announcement?
Actually, I'd be a bit underwhelmed if all it turns out to be is another iphone clone but with a Querty keyboard. Hello? Nokia N97? Where is the revolutionary stuff? Palm had better impress the hell out of the industry or its curtains for them as a handset company!
Its the right move....a smart move.

But they still went about it the wrong way. They should not have waited till the last minute to lay a bomb like this on the industry. If they knew this was going to be their last and that Steve wasn't going to do the keynote they should have let people know ahead of time.

I dare any of you to disagree.
Well, I guess we all know what the number one topic of discussion will be tonight right?

What is "the brick"? Is it a brand new manufacturing process complete with a new assembly plant all from Apple? Has Apple secretly been building factories with their surplus billions? Or has the staff at 9to5mac all lost their minds?
Damnit! I'm getting sick and tired of the ridiculous careless azz reporting and the spreading of said careless reporting by multiple tech blogs.
All these other companies are using some form of touch based computing technology....BUT NOT MULTI-TOUCH!
Apple bought fingerworks and then that was that. Only Apple now owns the patent on the technology known as "multi-touch".

@ronnie jones:
release date? 30 days from announcement in small quantities then larger quantities the next month. There was talk of Apple already preparing a small quantity to be available at announcement. But most likely its going to be pre-orders as usual.
Why the hell is this even an article ya freakin apple noobs! With a question mark like its some big mystery. They are launching the 3G iphone at the WWDC 08 end of story!
Geez!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
