I too had a Sony Laptop, FGN series, just your run of the mill $2200 15" (bought it 3 to 4 years ago). I had several motherboard issues and dvd drive issues and while they were annoying, I have to say Sony covered all the replacement and repairs with no questions asked.

When it came to buying a new laptop last April I opted for a Dell, because of price/performance mostly. I would buy another Sony product but not another Sony computer, because even though they were spot on with repairs, the fact that there were frequent repairs puts me off.
Richard is definitely the most prepare packer
Amen. Finally someone who's smarter and better at words than I am who can say what I've felt for the past few years now. I am beginning to think the internet has devolved people. When I was a kid if I wasn't polite and respectful to people my parents would've beaten me with a wooden paddle, times have changed.
thanks Mark though for responding like a human being, I appreciate the time you've taken to do so.

troll what the hell is that? I didn't want specs, they mean nothing to me, I wanted user opinions, what they're reasoning was. I don't have to justify myself or my questions to you or anyone, if you don't want to reply, then don't. I can show you the specs of any 5 cars that are nearly identical, does that mean all 5 are equally valued in your decision to buy a car? or does a person factor looks/style, brand name, past reliability? There are a lot of factors that go into decision making, at least for me because I am poor, specs are not what I'm concerned about. Does it work better than the competition and is it better suited to what I can afford? Mark answered my question in a polite manner, the rest of the replies have been asshole comments with no purpose other than to be an asshole.
I wasn't referring to you Mark. You gave the answer I was looking for, it was the comments following yours. Some people here are just assholes, they see a user and low rank without reading what they have to say, I've been visiting this page for several years and have noticed the elitest behavior evolving. It's like a cliche.
best wishes Steve! I am happy you found a donor in time, many people are not so fortunate.
i don't want to read the specs asshole, I wanted the opinions of the folks who were chomping at the bit to blast the ipod touch and tout the zune hd as the 2nd coming of christ. i think the only other web page with bigger loser assholes is Aint It Cool News, I love the articles here and there but the comment sections are fill with the lowest form of losers I have seen in my 36 years of life. rude, arrogant, sarcastic, how some of you can live with yourselves or anyone else is beyond me.
does it fit inside a manila envelope?
it seems those pictures were disingenuous. it would be too expensive to make the cases for nothing or the ipod touch with a camera and to suddenly decide no go. If any of the companies made cases for an ipod touch with camera they were doing so under rumor and/or innuendo.. bad move. but I don't think legitimate manufacturers would do this as it's nonsensical for their business and profit margin. does you little good to be the first one out of the gate if you're at the wrong race.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
