HD DVD touts sales growth over Blu-ray's decline {Engadget}

Jul 18th 2007 8:21AM I can tell you why HD DVD rules commission sales.

Sony pays the same on their BDPS1($799) as Toshiba does on it's A2($299)

Due to no spifs or higher pay outs, commission based sales push the HD DVD like crazy.

In non-commissioned sales environments like Best Buy, Sony gives BB incentives to push Blu Ray.

Purported shots of Canon 5D Mark II surface online {Engadget}

Jul 6th 2007 4:26PM Great news for me!

I was thinking about buying a 5D recently...now I know to hold off.

Give me a bigger viewfinder the current model, faster burst and fps, bigger LCD, better CMOS image sensor, 14-16mp(old camera is 12.8mp).

Still needs a Canon BG-E4 Battery Grip std.

Apple's little problem with ripping off artists {Engadget}

Jul 5th 2007 2:20PM toosday,

You do realize almost 90% of anything in the movies or in Ad campaigns are derivative of something already in our culture be it art/music/movies/books/culture and etc.. Which basically means I can say almost 9-10 Ad's you see on tv are a rip of something else.

The marketing company would be at fault.
If they didn't check copy rights on the art style.
If they knew about it but presented the art style as it's own.(this happens a lot)
If they knew about it but didn't licenses the art from the original owner.

Does your local Wal-mart feature both HD formats? {Engadget HD}

Jul 3rd 2007 11:31PM Saw the new dual display at one Wal-Mart.(this was 1 yr old store) Another Wal-Mart only had 1 BD title and it was X-Men 3.(they actually said they don't sell them at all) Another Wal-Mart only had an all HD DVD display and said they don't supply BD titles at this time.

Teardown reveals iPhone parts cost two bills {Engadget}

Jul 2nd 2007 6:55PM GPS is a joke on most all cell phones. Unless your GPS phone is sending data back and forth to a global positioning satellite orbiting over head..then it's not GPS.

It used to be called cellphone tracing. Basically the carrier is triangulating your coordinates between 3 cell towers and then putting it on a grid map for you to follow. The method is accurate from 80-100 meters of your actual position on a grid map.

Universal, world's largest music company, refuses to renew iTunes contract {Engadget}

Jul 2nd 2007 1:36AM Chuck you forget the Zune music store music is in the WMA format which is worse then ACC which Apples uses.
128 on ACC sounds like a 192 MP3.

You also forget iTunes also offers songs DRM free and at 256 ACC...it costs a bit more, but it's worth the better sound quality and it also being DRM free.

Universal, world's largest music company, refuses to renew iTunes contract {Engadget}

Jul 2nd 2007 1:27AM Universal is not leaving iTunes.

Universal is going with a short term contract instead of a long term contract.
So it's like they chose 2 yrs over say 5 yrs.

Poll: got iPhone activation problems? {Engadget}

Jul 1st 2007 3:22AM AT&T seems to be slow in CS dept.

Cingular formally Bell Mobility was the best around here. They usually did it over the phone, but then again I only have a single user account with them.

When AT&T merge with Cingular and BellSouth...all my stuff went AT&T.
AT&T now owns me..DSL/Land Line/Cell/DTV...at least I get discounts.

Poll: got iPhone activation problems? {Engadget}

Jul 1st 2007 3:16AM I hope your flame retardant.

You realize this isn't Apples issue it's a network(AT&T) issue.

Most tend to be number transfer related.
