Here's a laptop that's just as thin. It similar specs, a better form factor and better battery life (14 hours). Its cheaper by $700, AND its from sony - oh the times they are a'changin.

Dell fails, hard
@ Quixotic: Well, seeing as how concept cars are reserved for auto shows, as in 'not the consumer market', it would seem as though you don't get it either.

Dell might be pushing the envelope of design, but that doesn't mean its a good thing. The fact remains that this laptop is useless by many standards that the exceedingly average consumer can appreciate:
- Crappy Battery life
- Does not sit comfortably on the lap
- Scores a 3.3 on WE rating, pretty shoddy for a 2k+ machine
- and I'm still not sure about that latch, sure you don't usually open the machine when its dead, but that's still a pretty ill-thought out 'feature'

What in God's name is that? When I saw the profile pics of its side I figured they were putting it upside down - making soem sort of fashion statement.

Well done dell, you've created the Pontiac Aztec of the laptop world
I want it so bad!
I picked on up this morning. Its a pretty solid machine and the new case, matte instead of KFC-grease magnet, is a welcome addition.

The new DSi store is the whole reason to pick one up. Forget the camera and anything else, which is actually pretty good.

One thing I can definately see happening is in the future is video-calling. It has a front-facing camera and a microphone, and Wifi. Either nintendo is going to offer something, or the jailbreaking community will.
"In theory, at least, the technology could one day be used to draw a laser barrier of sorts around a village"

SHIELDS UP, CAPTAIN!
Although I really want that mouse, it will be hard to give up my MX Revolution for its free-spin wheel.
I'm sure it's specs are awesome, but whoever was in control of aesthetics needs to be shot, in the face.
When I go to the website posted in the press release (www.sonystyle.com/pr/tt), it shows that the only way to get blu-ray is not with a $2700 model, but a $4300 model. Also, it seems as though the only way to get the 1.4 ghz processor is to buy the the most expensive model.

I know it is just a pre-order at this point, but I hope I will be able to upgrade certain things on the computer. I waited all this time to upgrade my TX, and I'll be damned if I will be upgrading from 1.2 ghz single core to 1.2 ghz dual core. I'm also a veteran of sony press releases, so i know they are not the greatest when it comes to consumer relations. Only time will tell I suppose
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
