GABBO! GABBO! GABBO!
This is great and all, but these drives are not in stock anywhere on the planet. I have cash in hand, Intel!!!
WIn 7 RTM (build 7600) 32bit works OK on a 2007 MacBook Pro. The trackpad is almost unusable, though. Two-finger-right-click works about 20% of the time, so shift-F10 is the new right-click, and the tracking is really whacked. Sound drivers were missing from both 10.5 and 10.6 install disks. Wireless is iffy, too. It works, but drops the signal if you breathe wrong.
The worst thing is power, Win 7 can't read the battery life and shuts down within minutes of unplugging from the wall.
None of these issues are insurmountable, though. I use Windows 7 exclusively and only boot to OSX to test platform issues in my projects.
Obviously they viewed this as a security threat, since cell phones can trigger explosives. So the airline's behavior makes perfect sense.
They updated the keyboard and touchpad for the new T400s in July. The T510 and T410 will very likely inherit the design.
Aside from evolutionary changes to keep pace with technology and use cases, Lenovo doesn;t really need to alter the Thinkpad for visual design fads. That s what the Ideapad line is for.
I get about .25 hours on my 2007 MacBook Pro battery. My Lenovo T61 battery lasts 4 hours after the same level of use.
I don't get it... why release a brand new machine with a T9900 C2D when mobile Core i7 is already on the market? This computer is obsolete on the day it was released. Strange.
I too was curious what this is used for. From the computer's site (which I found through the linked article):
Located in the Terascale Simulation Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, BlueGene/L is used by scientists at Livermore, Los Alamos, and Sandia National Laboratories. The 360-teraFLOPS machine handles many challenging scientific simulations, including ab initio molecular dynamics; three-dimensional (3D) dislocation dynamics; and turbulence, shock, and instability phenomena in hydrodynamics. It is also a computational science research machine for evaluating advanced computer architectures.
The Yashica T4 Super was an excellent point and shoot film camera that went all over the world with me. I wish they could come up with an equivalent digital (excellent glass, weatherproof, tough).
brad, what do you think the Escalade is? A Tahoe for a special brand of idiot who wants to pay twice as much as the run of the mill idiot Tahoe buyer.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
