Oct 16th 2007 6:33PM After a quick check, this theory is correct on my 1992 Saab 9000, but another exception would be my dad's 1996 Pontiac Bonneville.
Another theory that I've seen to be mostly true is which side of the dashboard the fuel gauge is on. Which is true for every car I've ever owned. But of course, there's a few exceptions.

I'd soon opt for a remote cell panel that would just plug into a power port on the device, then I could mount the solar cell on the top of my vehicle.
