Hello,

I suppose these do not work with the AppleTV, right?

Nice tear apart jay, I look forward to a user friendly method to creating my own "LP". Maybe just prettying up a wikipedia or discogs entry and wrapping it up with the music for a quick iTunes LP. :-)

cheers!
Personally, I do not need system for an on par or better-than-the-Arclight movie experience. If I had the cash to swing a private theater with 8-channel surround, stadium seating and nice draperies, I wouldn't drive it using a sub-1000$ HTPC. If mosxs has a dedicated theater room with the environment to match the tech specs, more power to hir, but there are a whole lot of ppl who shop on specs and "potential" with little real world necessity. You know, the SUV buyers of AV equipment; "but someday I MIGHT do this, so I need to buy it!" :-P
As these netbooks become lower in price, the more I want to buy a $100 touschscreen kit and turn one into a side table tablet. I could use it to control my home automation doodads, control my iTunes library, access my webcam, make skype calls, and have it be a digital frame with weather and news widgets while it is idle.
:-)
Hello

For safety's sake, do not leave *any* device charging on carpet, upholstery, blankets, or pillows. Only charge items on a solid surface with plenty of ventilation. This goes for laptops, battery chargers, mobile phones, cameras, and similar items (especially those with Lithium-Ion batteries). If a cord or electronic device is defective or worn and subsequently overheats or burns, having it on a solid surface will minimize the potential of a fire spreading.

Knowing is half the battle!
There is that one annoying MS Word macro virus that pops up every so often on Macs in my circle. ClamX will quarantine the thing, but will not sterilize the infected Word .doc. If it is not eradicated in a certain way it will keep reinfecting every new document, so that is a bit of a hassle.

Quick desktop cleanup for the lazy. :-)
Hello

I submitted this to engadget a couple days ago with the quoted text from the email I received from Dalton announcing the pre-order. The installation CD is on CD-r, the packaging in a plastic bag, and the whole thing comes across as pre-release for users willing to be the guinea pig. Apparently I was 'selected' to receive the offer because a year back I asked Dalton on the status of the item, and the following was the email I received one year later.
cheers!

Hello,

So how would I create a sidetable tablet like this from a sub-$300 MSI Wind or Dell Mini and a $100 touchscreen kit from eBay? Something with news and weather widgets, photo browsing and photo flickr RSS, an iTunes controller, and maybe even interface with my Zwave automation for lights. Ooh, maybe install a couple ip camera and use the tablet for viewing?

Sound doable with off-the-net OS or apps?

cheers!
So, when will somebody hack the AppleTV so that I can plug in a USB gaming controller and fire up the (s)NES, Genesis emulators and MAME? ;-)

the movie is shit
it is gore porn, so it is extra shitty.
the tech is cool
I anxiously await for the day that the technology is used in a film actually worth paying money for. I only went to the movie for the tech. Note: If you wear glasses, the 3-D glasses are not all that comfy and you will have some mirroring around the edges.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
