Engadget has always credited any links i sent their way...
i wonder what chipset it'll use...no doubt it'll just be a poulsbo... i can't see this being anything special...

maybe if they sort out the xp drivers so it can do hd video (shold be possible now that the dell mini12 also comes in XP)

otherwise how is this different from the number of MIDs out there...

resounding meh.
wasn't there one of these in the UniQlo in NYC recently?
not sure where you get those power numbers from...

the 945 chipset only takes about 7 watts according to the intel spec (note the netbook chipset is much lower power variant than the standard 945)

in fact total power draw for an N series + 945 is quoted as 8-11W

i'd say the savings from moving to poulsbo are only 5W or so are getting eaten up by the 3G and larger display and hard drive... possibly?

peter...this chip is meant for umpc and mid platforms (its already used widely in those circles...this is the first time (AFAIK) its been used in a 'full' laptop...

the ship itself isn't much different (apart from the thermal and power specs) but the matching poulsbo chipset is interesting

alledgedly providing hd video acceleration (and dx 10 support if they write the drivers) as well as a lower power draw than the chipset used in current netbooks...

actually 1GB is a maximum... it uses a different chipset (Poulsbo) - hence the 1GB RAM and PATA Hard Drive

interesting that the battery life is soo poor (from the review) as poulsbo is meant to use about a third of the power consumption of the chipset in the mini 9
yeah! also if they actually manage to have a poulsbo chip (rather than the 945GSE) that supports it would help offset the exta 4W power draw .. oh and better 1080p accel to boot....

@E71 -> feeling the same way myself re: high def content...i'm certainly not gonna attempt to keep a seperate version of everying for my portable players...already do that with my CDs in Flac and AAC for my ipod and its a royal pain...
poo i just bought a Teac MD37 - the wolfson dac CD player sounds intruiguing...i guess this is aimed straight at Teac and onkyo's mini devices (all o which also have iPod docks available too)
bah, build it yourself, it's a standard nexus psile case...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
