everyone is all over the whiny-ness of this report, but what is the bigger picture? is Nokia is trouble and putting out an early excuse? companies dont complain when they are secure and doing well, only when they see a threat...
Qt is awesome for gui designing, I hope Nokia doesnt kill the open source development kits...
fatal design flaw is the glass covers the screen, if it were only on the bezel the glare would not be a problem. matte screens do not make colors pop but as most photographers understand its artificial and not so accurate.
most new dell monitors match or outperform the aging (3 yr old) apple cinema monitors, but look cheep in comparison with matte black plastic bezels.
dell needs to keep working on industrial design and make their monitors look as well as they preform, but not sacrifice on the performance.
i would love to use one of those in the image analysis lab... even the 30" monitor one of the researchers has is too small for some of the 2d images let alone the 5d+ montages...
it looks like a really nice camera, but it lacks sensor shift IS. the 510 is probably their best value right now, still being extremely small for an slr.
actually it makes sense that the throughput on the longer distance would be less because of signal segregation.
"The researchers used 164 wavelength-division multiplexed channels modulated at 100 Gbps in the effort."
so that would be one optical strand, how many can they fit into a bundle like the undersea cables?
wasn't there something about speed and performance increases somewhere along the lines of 10% mentioned somewhere?
what i would really like to see is an XP2 os aka XP trimmed of all the bloat it has out of the box...
Big Brother learns how to play Simon Says... tracking bracelets and computer control seriously is this training for the shape of things to come???
ultra II cards are slow, i would like to see the speed tests of an extreme IV card, they cost a bit more but 4Gb is less than 100 and 8 is approaching that...
honestly if it is cheaper than the LG duel format read only drive aka bellow $300 then its worth it. if the writable and around the price of a BR write drive why not just throw in a HDVD drive as well, its not like you can loose here if it is a reasonable price.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
